This page is to provide anyone who is interested with information on the lawsuit against this website & myself. I will do my best to share what information I have, but need to keep my privacy about certain things due to the fact that this is a pending lawsuit. I figured that all members of this site should have the opportunity to look at the details. A lot of you have spent many hours submitting information and contributing to this site, so you deserve to know what's going on.
I first found out about this lawsuit on the afternoon of June 7, 2010 by reading this article. Needless to say, it was quite a surprise. I disabled the entire news section, including the offending article, on the site by the next morning, without being asked to do so by anyone. I am currently weighing my options and am hoping to make contact with the attorneys representing the Righthaven LLC soon. More details to follow.
In mean time, please restrict yourselves from badmouthing Righthaven LLC or the Las Vegas Journal Review. I understand there are many ways to see what is going on and that they are only protecting their story. My goal is to work this out so both sides are happy with the outcome, and don't need any harmful words from anyone not involved to get in the way. Thank you for your support. I've made many, many great friends from this website and am greatly appreciative for everyone's thoughts and prayers.

After working with a friend-of-the-family that is a lawyer in the copyright field, we've found that Righthaven LLC is not willing to dismiss the lawsuit. I am currently working with them on a settlement and will end up paying a bunch of money. It appears they are not interested in taking ownership of the website or domain, so I will hopefully be able to retain that much. At this point, I'm just hoping that the settlement amount is something that I can manage. First indications are that it will be more than I've made overall from the site in the 6 & 1/2 years I've been running it, so it's pretty frustrating considering I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. I'll be posting more soon, including links to other lawsuits and some commentary on Righthaven as a whole.

Still waiting. Read today that Righthaven has now filed about 54 lawsuits against small websites for copyright violation.
Also, the total needed for the thermometer display is a rough estimate of what I'm expecting to pay. I'll update this when I find out the final amount.

Reached a settlement with Righthaven. It is what I expected, but not what I had hoped for. I will be doing some digging to come up with the total as they want it very soon.
The members of this site have donated a good deal of their own money to help me with the settlement fees. I am overwhelmed by the amount of support from all of you, and can not express my thanks and gratitude for everyone that donated. I still have the majority of the total to come up with, but what has already been donated will go a long way.
If you are interested in helping but can't afford to spend the money, I completely understand. I'm grateful just for you trying to help, believe me. One thing you can do is click on the Google ads on the left side of all of the pages on this site. I make a few cents from each click, which will go directly to paying the settlement. So the more you click, the more you help. And it's free to you! You do not need to fill out any forms or submit your personal information; just click on the link, let the page load and go from there. A few clicks every time you visit the site goes a long ways!

Found someone sticking up for the site, spreading the word on the lawsuit & Righthaven. Nice to see it somewhere else! Thank you gerbile! At the moment, Righthaven is up to 64 lawsuits (almost 30 more since they filed mine). These guys are really going after everyone.

Things have been quiet since last week. At the moment, I'm waiting on the final paperwork so I can get my payment sent off and be done with this. Thankfully, it should be quick. I just wanted to express my deepest thanks to everyone that has helped out, either by donating, clicking or spreading the word. I am in debt to you all.

I sent off my payment to Righthaven this morning. They should receive it Monday and then they have 10 days to dissmiss the lawsuit. Almost done!
Many thanks again to everyone that has donated and offerred encouragement over the last month. It's been a struggle, but was made much easier by the members of this site.
