Slip Cover/Case Outside

Case Inside
2 Disc
My Rating: 9/10
Summary: At first glance, the outside slip case of the 2 disc set is simple; the front has the classic red AC/DC logo on a black background, 'Plug Me In' below it in kind of an etched metal look. The back features a complete track list of the 2 discs, so the slip cover is pretty standard. I did notice that it is so glossy that you'll leave finger prints on it no matter how hard you try to keep them off.

Once you pull the disc holder out of the slip case however, things get spiced up a bit. The disc holder folds out into a 4 panel book. On the two far ends are flaps that hold 2 booklets. In the center 2 are the 2 discs. The artwork of the discs is as simple as the cover; red AC/DC logo, simple 'Plug Me In' below it (I'm sensing a theme here). If you pull the 2 discs out, there are nice band pictures from each era within the inlay of each disc. One for Bon, one for Brian, just like the discs, & both are in black & white. On the reverse side, the 4 panels hold 4 pictures. One of them is the cover art, while the back (opposite the cover, shows when it is folded up) is a shot of Angus. On the 2 ends are shots of Bon and Brian. All pictures are in black & white and the book itself is extremely glossy. I think you'd leave finger prints on it even if you were wearing gloves and if you exhale anywhere near the pictures, it'll fog over. A little bit annoying considering I like to keep my stuff looking clean, but a very cool way to pull the entire set together.

The two booklets included feature pictures of Cliff and Malcolm on the front cover, and Phil and Angus on the back covers, respectively. Both covers have the same black and white photos along with the glossy effect. The first booklet features pictures taken from shows in the past or tv appearances, along with the complete track list with dates & locations for each disc. The last few pages of the booklet are the credits for the dvd set and a few more photos. Most of the photos inside of the book are in color and look great. The 2nd booklet is kind of a scrapbook of images that show the band throughout the years, and also has different memorabilia mixed in with the photos. Backstage passes, patches and typed a typed tour schedule from 1981 are a nice touch. The photos are great, and span from about 1975 until 2003. The older pictures look amazing and really capture the band well.

Overall, it's a very clean and classy box set. The fold out disc case does the trick, but can also fit on a small shelf. There aren't many extras in this one, but there just isn't any room for much more. And considering I picked mine up for under $15 with the Best Buy coupon, it's a hell of a deal when you consider just how many great videos you just got your hands on.
