AC/DC - Danger (Live)
I've heard that it was done live once, and was rumored to have been done terribly, and that's why it was dropped from all live shows afterwards. Is this true? Is there any type of recording of this show, if it's true?
Somehow, I just can't imagine that song being played live in any form. It's just too, I don't know, obscure would probably be the word.
In 1985-1986, it would have been no more "obscure" than, say, "Boogieman" in 1995-1996. I think a lack of imagination on your part is not really helping anything, Travis.
I think it could have been possible early on.. That was the song that was being played on commercial radio first around here when Fly On The Wall was released....
Only if you consider Boogie Man a better song than Danger. Put two and two together and you might end up with four: The same: 1. Slow, blues songs. 2. Lyrics about being bad. 3. Funny Different: 4. One came out in 85, the other came out in 86.
I should rephrase that to: "Only if you think Boogie Man is a shitty song."
I like to think that there is at least one audio copy for every concert, yet they are stored away in private collections, or the recorders forgot about them.
I'd like to think that somehow, AC/DC has a copy of at least 75% of the shows from each tour.
id like to think that some jerk that works for the band, is holding back WAY TOO FREAKIN MUCH!!!! material.
One thing that beats the shit out of me, AC/DC did a concert in Dallas, Texas (south-central US for the non-Americans) in 1977. It was broadcast on radio. Why haven't we seen that tape?
A salesman in the Borders music department recently told me that radio stations would commonly write over such tapes instead of using blanks.
Could be possible that the band had many bootegs. I´ve heard that they had many boots of the Razors Edge tour
I cant beiieve AC/DC could play any song of theirs bad. I have a bootleg cd called BACKFIRE of songs never heard live often and 5 of them are from FLY but no DANGER.Im sure if you look in that era theirs one under the sheets.
Dailydose, I was referring to a fan taping the show off of radio. I know for a fact many people did and still do tape shows off the radio. But as for the taping over of previously used tapes, studios have been known to do that as well.
There are a lot of issues here, especially for material from the 70s and 80s. Some of it is technology, as well as a lot of it is media stability etc... Tapes tend to get stretched over time, are affected from heat, wear, etc... I think there is a lot of recordings that exist, but also a lot of the recordings that exist are sh&t. I have been dealing a lot with FLACs lately, and some of the shows are just plain amazing. Not quite what I would expect from a major release that has been professionally produced and mixed, but some that are not far off in terms of sound and quality. Others sound like they were recorded from one of the arena's bathroom and I am just waiting to hear a toilet flush over the drowned out vocals and you can hear the people yabber more than the singer. To each their own. Some people like to have everything, others get drawn into sound quality etc, and a lot of what I have heard on some shows is just plain unlistenable. In the end if you are out there long enough you will find what you want. Much of it though, you may have to pay for in the end because some people are just in it for the money, and others who have some of the deep deep tracks, just purely want to trade and you have nothing that they want. Me... I eventually want to put together my own compilation... find the 40 - 50 of my favorite tracks and then find the individual performances of each one I like best and somehow try to blend them into a cohesive or at least decent sounding blend.
Damn. Am I the only one who has heard that? Because If anyone knows the date, we could look it up in the concert history section. If a bootleg ever comes along, please notify me as soon as possible! And wesley lail, I have heard some of Backfire, and that has some songs I never thought I'd hear, like Go Zone and COD. Once the band dies, the record companies better start releasing some stuff, because to keep it locked up is cruel and unusual torture!
I thought it was mentioned in Arnaud's book that they performed Danger once early in the Fly on the Wall tour, but dropped it due to either a lack-luster performance or poor fan reaction. If anyone has the book handy, hopefully they can help shed some light on the subject.
Nate, I believe that you are correct. I just finished reading the book about 3 weeks ago and I remember reading that same fact about it being played early on and dropped quickly.
I have the book and i read, that the would like plaiing Its a long way to the top on the BUYV Tour in australia. But a guy have played the song on Countdown, so the drop the idea to.
If they dropped the song because of poor fan reaction, then I would be dissapointed, because they should know that all the real fans want to hear songs like that, not the popular songs. I anyone ever meets Malcolm, tell him to put Danger on the setlist! I could understand it being dropped due to a lousy performance in the last two tours, but I'm sure it couldn't have gone that terribly wrong in '85 when they were all at their peaks. It's too bad they don't consider the hardcore fans who are as sick of BIB as they are. I'll take a look at the early '85 concerts and see what I come up with.
Well, all I found was a bootleg note by Nate that said, "Angus and Brian talk about the meaning of Danger." I know this may be a stretch, but I wonder if they talked about Danger because they recently played it, or if that got them thinking and they decided to try it. Do you know anything more about that? Thanks for all the help guys!
If I remember right, that interview was from the wrap party of the video shoot, which they put a video together for Danger.
You mean this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sixvGb4Qb6U&feature=related Knowing that they realeased Danger as the first (and only?) single from FOTW, and that they made a music video, they must have realized it's potential. If I ever get to say one thing to him, it'll be, "Play Danger!" It seems to me that they ignore their best songs. Boogie Man seems like the only good song they gave any attention, and they still didn't make a music video for it. And I could imagine a cool video for that song, with Brian in a '65 Cadillac cruising around at night or something. LOL.
I found this in a listing of rare singles: "1985, 7"/12": Danger / Back In Business (Slightly different Danger)" Have you ever heard of this different version of Danger, or do you know what's different about it? Also, do you know where I could find a recording of this different version? Thanks for all the help BTW!
