Essential Boots?
Did some searching, and did not see a thread on the topic, so why not... I have only semi-recently gotten into scouring the net for AC/DC live shows, but like any other addiction... once you get going, you can't stop. Some of the 40 - 50 shows I have collected sound amazing... Some you can "sort of" hear the band over the chatter surrounding the taper, but given the volume of shows and the decent availability, looking to such a loyal and passionate group for suggestions on what are the ESSENTIAL / Must have shows... The criteria: -- Decent Sound -- Great Energy -- Great Set list ...... as well as this can include rarities like deep cuts that were only played a few times. To start off from my limited collection: Boston - 1978-Aug-21 "Pompeii" - I have MP3... would love FLAC... Great sound and energy, especially for a 30 year old show. Hammersmith Odeon 1979-Feb-11 1982-Oct-16 79 sounds amazing from the radio broadcast 82 sounds great as well, and gotta love an almost 16 minute version of Bad Boy Boogie... that is starting to push Allman Brothers Mountain Jam territory... Tokyo 1981-Feb-05 sounds a little cleaner for a similar set though (at least my copy of Japan is crisper than 82 Hammersmith) Sydney Haymarket - 1977-Jan-30 Great version of "Its a long way..." and great sounding Bon Seattle - 1996-Aug-12 Ballbreaker/No Bull tour... Sound (on my copy at least) is a little drowned, but not bad for an audience recording... A great setlist for those whole like the Ballbreaker album. Well that is good enough for starters.
Something with a "raw" sound, like 9-2-84 Stadion Am Dutzendteich, Nürnberg, Germany
Danger this bootleg is avaible on the LTBR Forum
I know its one of my favorites. Raw dound. great setlist. The band is on fire that night.
eh something from the FTATR tour would be better (in my own opinion of course) such as the famous Largo show,i actually try to stay away from FOTS tour boots, i really cant stand Brian's voice on that tour, doesnt lose my love in anyway but i just cant listen, though Detroit '83 is good, and Rock in Rio and of course its a favorite search with Glasgow 1982 when Brian screwed up Live Wire, only time he ever sang it, Irvine Meadows 1986 is a great one from the Who Made Who tour
You gotta add the columbus show in september 1978. Great feel to it and the band played great that day, and it was broadcasted on the radio so the quality is pretty good. Also, the 07-23-1980 show is pretty good too.
Is 7-23-80 Montreal? Most Razors Edge Boots are pretty good, like Irvine Meadows.
