Someone that I work with said Tommy Lee Jones was on tv the other day and mentioned his friends ACDC was releasing their new CD on June 15th. Has anyone heard about this, or is it just a rumor?

Could be a rumor or not. Iīve heard a rumor that AC/DC and Metallica will go togheter on a tour. But you never know what is true.

It's not completely true. AC/DC, nor any other big label act would release an album on Jun 15, 2008 because June 15th is a Sunday. Major label releases are almost always guaranteed to be a Tuesday release date. That being said, June 17th is a Tuesday, and I myself have been thinking that June is a good time to release the album.

Dave, Tommy Lee Jones ("The Fugitive") is an actor not Tommy Lee from Motley Crue. P.S. The new Crue album comes out in the States on June 24th.

Tommy Lee Jones ("The Fugitive") is an actor not Tommy Lee from Motley Crue. SHIT, Guess i should get some sleep after doing 18hr nightshifts huh!! lmao Tommy Lee Jones, good actor, Coalminers Daughter etc, thinking about it tho, if you put a long brown wig on him he does kinda resemble Mal, well if you squint a bit, and it would explain 2 things, FIRSTLY : Why you never see them both in the same room, perchance they are one and the same person!!!!!! SECONDLY : THe busy schedule of (ahem) Mr Jones has meant that he was too busy to write any music for the band!!!

Well, that would explain a lot, wouldn't it? But yeah, I think he just mentioned a random date, thinking it would sound cool, only he forgot about Tuesdays.

Usually it take 2 months of promotion before a cd is released. So the date won't match. Also acdc site mention for a release later this year and as i've said before, i think the date will be at late Autumn. Probably November (25) :)

Maybe they'll be able to do only a month, considering the following factors: Recent release of Plug Me In has AC/DC's name out there. Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams with Classic Rock Cares once again has AC/DC's name out there. Brian's three new songs from Totally Baked has his name out there. ACDC.com has the news of the album out there. Brian's recent interviews and the extensive Wikipedia editing have been telling of a new album. So basically, ever since they've entered the studio, and before, they have been doing a certain amount of "promo" if you will. We'll know it's getting real close when we hear rumors of someone being hired to do a video.

Actually there are 2 names that if they have their "name out there" will be the start of it....The names are....Drum roll.......................................... Angus and Malcolm. So basically i think a summer release is not an option. Record companies will have the album announced for, ok, let's say on the most optimistic way, 1 month ago (very very veeery optimistic). And to give you the general idea...Remember plug me in? Here you go: "Friday 24th August 2007 AC/DC "Plug me in" AC/DC- "Plug Me In," 5 Hours of Rare & Collectible High Voltage Rock & Roll on 2 DVDs, Available Tuesday, October 16"

Well, the ACDC.com announcement was over a month ago. While it is vague in the least, it still classifies as an "announcement." Now if I was to apply some of your logic, with a little bit of my logic, August would work. Now they could release it in November (doubt they'd wait that long though), seeing as (according to Wikipedia) they finished with Stiff Upper Lip in October 1999 and released it five months later. If that pattern is repeated (knowing the promo tour they did) and them finishing up the recording in April, plus four/five months = August/September. Also, Flick Of The Switch was recorded in April and released August 1983, so they could do that pattern too. A late year release would be good (Fall) for the holiday season, seeing as that's how they did with Plug Me In.

Fair enough but there are 2 things that don't fit. It's not common for a big 2000+ release to get released in August. ACDC.com has just said that they will release the album in this year. Ok but first you must have the album ready (mixed, songs chosen, title, promotion, video). So when they say "here is the album" titled "blah" then they will also give a date. Don't expect to suddenly see the album in the stores. Anyway i'm guessing November. Cool if it's earlier but i don't think so.
