Rock and violence

Times Online has issued the following report from Stuart MacDonald: An academic study has identified the music that is most likely to trigger violence in Britain’s pubs and nightclubs, and the songs most likely to promote harmony. The study, funded by the NHS, claims to provide the first evidence of a link between music and pub violence. Researchers from Glasgow University, who monitored the playlists and outbreaks of fighting at eight pubs and bars in Glasgow city centre, found that loud rock and rap music encouraged customers to drink more, increasing loutish behaviour that often spilt over into violence. The pounding rhythms also made it difficult for customers to hear one another, causing misunderstandings. Rock music such as AC/DC’s 'Highway To Hell' and the ROLLING STONES’ 'Brown Sugar' was found to encourage macho posturing and aggressive behaviour among male customers. Ok. After that i'm gonna rip you open ,spill you gusts, eat you alive and then shoot you just to be sure. If i don't see AC/DC touring soon i will be more aggressive and give a good kick in my bed mattress. Ohhh i'm lighten up right now!!! :) (Don't f^ck with Sapator! :| )

Eh, of course rock music and pubs = violence. Just think of it, rock music tends to fuel you, and beer (among other things served at pubs) makes you not as able to think clearly. But wait, Highway To Hell, not You Shook Me All Night Long or T.N.T.? It's rigged I say, rigged!

Maybe one AC/DC song that shouldn't even be considered is "Ride On." I think pubs sometimes play rock music too loud, which leads to the misunderstandings, not the repetitive riffs and beats themselves. But I hate that they piled rock in with rap.

I can only talk for pubs that are in England (Portsmouth to be exact). Well the thing is that the people there a constantly drunk and will pick a fight with any kind of music. Back in Greece, well metal clubs a few years ago were considered to be "fight picking" places (never been to one, never will, i prefer clubs with annoying dance and retarded Greek music) but this dates it's hard to pick a fight in a club here in Greece (snif snif :( ) you must go to an underground low level out of the map club just to have your fist in a guys mouth or to get your head broken. Oh what a world! P.S. The word "hard-rock" or "metal" is not existent, out of a metal club, in Greece.

Rubbish! "Highway to Hell"? For me I could see "TNT", 'Dirty Deeds", "Bad Boy Boogie", "Shot down in Flames", "Thunderstruck" and even "Hail Ceasar". I know my pump up music before playing hockey was alway a heavy selection of "Shoot to thrill" "Shake a Leg" "What do you do for Money, Honey" As for Stones? "Brown Sugar"???? "Street Fighting Man", "Sympathy for the Devil" maybe... Brown Sugar???? Now if you want to get me breaking bottles and throwing punches, any selection from Barry Manilow, Bee Gees, Thompson Twins, or Minny Vanilly will do the trick. Most of the hate Rap I can see... I mean with lyrics about slapping Hos and killing cops, what do they expect. Surprised "Enter Sandman" or "Another thing coming" was not mentioned.

I just hope Glasgow tax dollars weren't spent on that study. Here in the US, we always have taxpaid studies that say dumb stuff like "Most accidents occur at home" and "Most accidents in the home occur in the bathroom and kitchen" and "Teenage drivers are inexperienced." Um, these type of studies could be replaced with studies on how to cure cancer. (I actually felt like typing half that sentence in ALL CAPS to show how I did a mock scream)

I wonder if bars in Milwaukee (a famous beer city here in the US) have a better time dealing with booze than the bars in, let's say, Rhode Island or New York (the state). I for one think that beer or rock music has nothign to do with it, cause my sister told me that today at school, there were like five fights. This is a school full of teenagers who listen to nothing but rap music (and screamo).

lets face it boys, no disrespect tou the Americans here, but you guys just cant make beer, you want a good beer, you gotta try some of the Brit brews or alternatively the european brews, namely Germany, Denmark and the Baltics, now THERES beer for ya, if in doubt, git yer asses over here and ill take you out for a drink in Edinburgh or, if your constitution can take it, hit the Oktoberfest in Germany. Just my thoughts on the subject, as for Glasgow and violence, can guarantee, most of the violence was commited upon the rockers by drugged up neds( hooligans) outta their wee minds on ecstacy or coke or the neds favourite brew, Buckfast, google it if you dont know what it is, bit like cough mixture mixed with pcp, evil vile concoction.

Well I will respectfully disagree and say any of the brew out of England is generally piss and the same temp two. Personally I like Schneider & Sohn Schneider-Weisse for beer. Though the Hefe-Weizenbier I like to have out on the deck is now $3.95 a bottle up from $2.95 a bottle because of the devaluation of the dollar. So pretty much 1 bottle of the price of a six pack of the bud crap. Probably pretty much why I have been sticking to Highland Park 16 for my consumption
