AC/DC Die-Hards 'Leak' New Song On Air Guitar - Viral Marketing
I watched the vid of the kid in his living room singing the new AC/DC track in a Brian Johnson costume and it raises some important (?) questions: 1. How did he learn all the words? 2. Where did he get the backing track? 3. Was this kid known as a hardcore dedicated AC/DC fan prior to posting the vid? 4. Was he also known for being able to do a passable Brian Johnson screech before this time? With these thoughts in mind, especially given he was somehow, somewhere passed an accurate backing track with all the elements minus Brian's actual vocal part and that, 30 seconds after he posted it online (and I'm probably not exaggerating too much here), there's suddenly a record company press release announcing that it exists while keeping its hands off of it, it seems like this is a bit of viral marketing. And if I'm right (and I think I probably am), then I'm impressed. Given the extremely shitty and condescending press releases we've been reading from the AC/DC camp over the last few months ("Guess what? AC/DC's going to do something, sometime, somewhere! Come to the site and buy more stuff!!!!), this is quite a clever bit of marketing and it should be included on a DVD release somewhere sometime in the future.
now i got the guitar in my head and wanna hear the damn track I DONT WANNA WAIT ANOTHER WEEK, and personally i thought that guy was a big dork though i didnt like his voice i gotta admit he did look a hell of alot like brian
I think he somehow get the song from the video shot. Idk why he has do it.
I think "somehow" he got it from the video shoot, too. Most likely someone took him aside and gave it to him with the understanding that he would record and post the viral video. Must be some rich kid, too, to be able to afford both a Gibson SG and a Gretsch Firebird as props.
Oh my, I was hoping this wouldn't happen. I was hoping for a leak of the track itself, not some cover. But if it is indeed viral marketing, it's pretty damned good.
Guys, ain't nothing but a slice of fun from a french fan. He didn't attend the video shoot but based his work on what the scottish guy and the other one who attended posted on youtube (the guitar work). Lyrics are all made up, regular AC/DC-alike lyrics. This guy has been posting for years on the message board of the n°1 AC/DC website www.highwaytoacdc.com. Nothing to do with any marketing at all, he would have never thought this would top youtube at all. Just a bit of fun with simply illustrates how big is the demand of the fans if only we doubted about this ;-)
