Audio Dubbing Project Log
dailydoseofacdc contacted me to sync up the Let There Be Rock audio from the bonfire box set with the video and the Glascow video with the If You Want Blood CD. He asked me to keep a log about what the results are (if it syncs up, studio dubbed things, etc.) and I figured why not put it on here to let everyone know. Last night I did Riff Raff from Glascow. It synced up great and appears to be the same song. The only difference is at the end when Bon says "Thank you, its so nice to be back!" which was on IYWB audio and not the video. Riff Raff
Sounds great, even on my tinny laptop speakers. Can't wait to hear the rest of the project. I just realized there is another audio option if you have it. The CD that was included with Plug Me In has a live Rock And Roll Damnation labeled as Glasgow 30 Apr 1978. Bon introduces the song which is not on the video. To my ears it actually sounds like a different recording than on IYWB.
Nope didnt get that CD. If you wanna send it i can try but I dont know the legality of sending it.
OK today I did Rock N Roll Damnation, Dog Eat Dog, and Bad Boy Boogie. I also did part of let there be rock. Rock N Roll Damnation and Dog Eat Dog synced up perfectly with the IYWB audio. Bad Boy Boogie also synced up well except the audio omitted one of the solos in the middle, overall about 10 seconds are gone. The first three should be uploaded tomorrow but let there be rock needs to be finished. I don't know why but the video keeps coming off sync with the audio although they look to be from the same source but its a bitch to edit. I will finish off all from Glasgow tomorrow and then move on to LTBR.
Yes, it is a bitch, a big one. i couldnt synch up the audio of the japan 1981, I've tried everything but nooo. it's theese old recordings tapes ran at different speeds, audo or video or some little parts of the audio and video were cut out. I also tried synching up the jailbreak video from london 1976 with the live audio instead of the studio track and again nothing, it kept going out of synch after a few second. but one option to solve this is to strech or reduce the audio (change the speed of the audio) to match the lenght of the video. And if, IF noone messed around with the video or audio maby then you could get some results. BTW which software do you use ?
Scooter, Can you sync up the Jailbreak Super Pop/Rollin' Bolan version with the true live audio? Then everyone would have the full 3 songs since CISNTYG and Live Wire are on Plug Me In.
acdc74, if you can send me the audio and video from it I can do it. But if it really is like mkalic ,said then I would try my best to sync it up, but it may not be the same audio. mkalic, I use Ulead Videostudio 11 to do the editing and then when I have the one big file with all of the songs i split it with AVI/MPEG/RM/WMV Splitter 4.28.
@Scooter, The Jailbreak Rollin' Bolan video is located in the download links section from the post Fuse667 made entitled Video upload #4 - Winners Choice As far as the audio, I will try and remember to post the audio for you tonight after I get home from work. I am confused why you are dubbing all the audio to the video for Glasgow considering all the tracks are available already on either Plug Me In or Family Jewels. A long time ago, I had edited all the tracks together in order to make a dvd. I could send that to you if you want to trade for example.
dailydoseofacdc contacted me to do it for him and I didnt think that the audio was from if you want blood.
I have wanted better audio for these 2 shows for a long time but I don't have the expertise to do this myself. Along comes scooter7391 who volunteered. When you're done with this scooter, you can pick a few DVDs off my list for your hard work. The Paris CDs from Bonfire sound a lot better than my VHS to DVD transfer. And as a bonus I'll be able to watch it without having to fast forward Phil and Cliff saying what they would do if World War III broke out. As far as Glasgow I agree that the tracks on FJ and PMI are great but changing discs to watch them in the proper order is a hassle. I don't know but I thought the sound on IYWB was better. The crowd noise is enhanced whether real or overdubbed so that's one difference. It might also answer whether all the songs in common on IYWB are from Glasgow. And a couple of days ago I remembered that Rock and Roll Damnation was on the PMI bonus CD. It is labeled as Glasgow April 30, 1978 and sure sounds different that the version on IYWB. Scooter says the video syncs up with IYWB so now I am confused again.
i think rnr damnation was edited for Plug Me In. its sounds a lot heavier than the IYWB version. the same happened with dirty deeds from detroit 83, the PMI version is a lot heavier than out bootleg versions.
Ok I am done with the Glasgow video. All of the videos match up with If You Want Blood except Rocker, including Rock N Roll Damnation. In the video and IYWB Malcolm starts playing but then in the video Angus does a little solo which is not on IYWB. So I figured that they probably just edited it out, but then when Bon started singing in the video he says "I'm a Rocker, Roller, Rocker, Rolla Rolla Rolla Rolla". But in IYWB he sings "I'm a Rocker, Roller Ra Ra Ra Controller". So in my humble opinion it is from a different source. Figure it out for yourself:
Bad Boy Boogie: Looks like I cut it a little short...
Rock N Roll Damnation: It is not done processing yet but when it is it should come up
