Angus on iTunes: We make albums, not singles

Angus Young said Black Ice wouldn’t show up on Apple’s digital store anyway because “We don’t make singles, we make albums.” Great, Angus. Now put your money where your mouth is and PLAY ALBUMS live, or at least all the songs from your albums at some point during the many shows you will play throughout the tour. If the Stones, Metallica and Pink Floyd can do it, AC/DC can do it. Because right now, you look pretty much like a singles band...

Okey-Dokey, Im pretty sure that this topic has been thrashed to within an inch of its life by now, but anyhow, heres my tuppence worth, I for one will be shelling out a lotta £££ for the tickets to see AC/DC when they play the U.K., now Im gonna be plenty pissed if after payin my hard earned I have the thrill of watching the best *rockaboogie* band in the world today, play entire albums by the numbers to satisfy the few, guess Im probably in the majority on that one. Fuck me dude, Id give my left nut to see em play AInt No Fun...., but guess what, aint gonna happen, after 35yrs Im guessing that the 100s of 1000s, if not millions of fans who are gonna go see em,are gonna get the greatest hits tour, in order to entertain the masses the band WILL do this I guarantee it, because they are entertainers its what they do, same as Metallicash, and WHEN the Stones ever do a tour without Satisfaction,Sympathy, Honky Tonk Woman? as for Floyd, erm Echoes,Comfy Numb, Run Like Hell,Wish You Were Here episodes 1-178? Single album tours suck dude, always did and the only reason a band ever do it is to massage/masturbate their own egos, I saw Maiden a few years back on their Death On The Road tour and GOD it was dire, luckily after the last track of the album was played, there was a powercut in Glasgow, and the crowd were not impressed, but hey the power came back, and guess what, Maiden played the crowd pleasers, funny that. Me personally, I believe its Angus' ball(metaphorically speaking), so um, he makes the rules. Saddens me a bit that a lot of people, and Im speaking generally here, spent years whining about how the band were not touring or recording and now that the new album is upon us and the tour is pending, suprise suprise, they got a whole new subject to moan about, dont think the band needs the money somehow, maybe Angus needs to pay the builders in Holland a bit more?, just think what a bitch it would have been if the Hammersmith Gig in 2003 had been the last, bit of a bugger that huh? Bottom line friends, lets be greatful that AC/DC are still willing to tour the globe, christ knows we need em. Oh Yeah, when they play your hometown notangus, let us all know how the gig goes, who knows you may get lucky and they may do the 1 album per show thing , pisser when you get the Who Made Who soundtrack night tho' Peace out Dave

LOL, Dave about your comment about playing Who Made Who in its' entirety. That was very funny. I am NOT pissed that AC/DC do not sell their albums on iTunes but I am pissed that I cannot download the album covers onto my iPod for all the AC/DC albums I loaded onto my player especially since I spent my hard earned cash on all their albums and all the remasters too. I think that it is OK (not welcomed by me because I like the AC/DC rarities) to play the hits since the general IDIOT out there doesn't truly know jack shit about AC/DC but to appease the true fans like us, they should be switiching up 2 songs for example per show and adding in rarities. Instead of switiching it up and playing IYWB or RnR Damanation at EVERY SHOW as the unique rarities like in 2003, play 2 rare songs in different cities and switch them up and then play the rest of the greatest hits. That way the true AC/DC fans who live off of the bootlegs would be able to enjoy rare songs like Ain't No Fun, Squeeler, Snowballed or whatever. Unfortunately, this is wishful thinking since AC/DC is so regiment in what they play and setlists and probably do not want to rehearse or practice the rare songs to swtich up. We all know the boys can do the hits in their sleep and if they picked say 20 additional rarities to learn and switch up in various cities, we would all be ecstatic.

Amen to that Scotty, I know I aint ever gonna hear my top ten, something to do with the singer havin passed away, shit man IMHO the best bluesy tunes are to be found on DDDDC and Powerage, and god knows theyre not getting a comprehensive dust off any time soon, There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' Ain't No Fun Gimme A Bullet Carry Me Home Love Song Crabsody In Blue Cold Hearted Man Touch Too Much Beating Around The Bush Squealer Love At First Feel Baby Please Dont Go Its A Long Way To The Top Soulstripper Overdose Can you see any of my selection being played? Nah. no disrespect to Brian but he aint Bon, and it would be a bit weird for 5 multi millionaires to be playing Its A Long Way To The Top, but as I said AC/DC have been a touring jukebox for nearly 30 yrs, dont see em changing now, we will get the old faves, Angus' solos and bare arse and a few of the new tracks and that will be it, but by Christ and all thats holy, there aint no-one on the planet that can do it quite as well as AC/DC when they get fired up an for that im thankful, cos Gawd knows im getting tired of the prepacked saccharine rock thats bein foisted on us by the industry bigwigs, lets get back to balls out RnR I say Peace Dave

I like your choice of songs to play declarob. I feel stupid that I have to clarify once again, but I don't feel that AC/DC necessarily has to play a complete album from start to finish in a show. However, if they're going to go around claiming they're an album band, I think it makes more than enough logical sense to hear more than just their usual 3 fucking singles from that album during a tour. Otherwise, why even bother recording the whole album? As has been pointed out, they don't need the money, so they don't need to sell the albums. As has also been pointed out by Angus himself, his back catalog is selling just fine as albums in "Model T" CD form, so there's no need for him to release his music to be sold as individual songs on iTunes. So then, Angus drawing attention to his album sales notwithstanding, it's apparently about the music. Great, let's have some follow-through on the music. They've got hundreds of great songs we haven't heard live. Let's fucking hear them! And, hey, there's a brand new album on the way and if the press releases and pre-release reviews are to be believed, it's fucking fantastic! So who here has the desire to only hear 3 of those songs live, whether in person or bootleg form? Yeah, that's what I thought... On the other hand, if AC/DC are really about small pieces of plastic stamped with digital encodings of music they played in a small room months or years ago, then it really doesn't matter. Because then it's never been about the music and always been about the plastic. Because if it was about the music, they'd actually PLAY THE FUCKING MUSIC!!!! Now, excuse me if I have seemed out of line with my leaps to logic on any or all of my posts on this site, but I'm really surprised that no fans have also had these leaps to logic and are so willing to play doormat to the machine. I love the music, you love the music, we all love the music. So let's hear the music.

Here's my input on AC/DC doing albums live. I'd be extremely pissed if I went to an AC/DC concert and heard only songs from Back In Black and Highway To Hell, and then heard that the next concert was Powerage and Let There Be Rock.

My 2 cents, again :) The way i see it, it would be great to hear what acdc74 suggested. 2-3 different songs on each concert. If not different on every concert then after 2-3 concerts. I don't wanna miss the favorites but i also would like to hear some of my own favorites (Squealer,Big Gun,Riff Raff,Let's Get it up,Overdose,Night Prowler,Go down,Live wire,The Furor,Guns for hire,Rock n Roll singer..etc). There is a good chance we would hear Powerage tracks but i guess that would be it...The complete albums thing that Notangus suggests would be nice if they do a global tour with the usual and then a smaller tour with the albums. Then, yes it would be nice but does anybody here honestly see this happening?

I don´t think that AC/DC will doing such a thing. But i hope we hear some old tracks again. One of my favourite is Touch too Much and it would be great to hear it live.

I never purchase entire albums on iTunes unless they're only available in digital form. I only buy rarities on iTunes.

I am sick of hearing FTATR and BIB. Anyone who doesn't want to hear rarities is a lousy fan and for all I care can go jump off a bridge and that's one less ticket that gets bought up before me. Ok, I wasn't really serious there, but come on, Mal should know that all the loyal fans, the ones who stuck with them through FOTW and FOTS, are fuckin' tired of the "classics". All those lousy, "I only like BIB, and FOTW sucked" fans can get bent as far as I'm concerned.
