SPOILERS from the "secret show"
I am revealing some things from the upcoming tour, so if you wish to be surprised when you see the tour, do not read on. Tonight was definitely not the whole show. For instance, most noticably missing were "The Jack" and an Angus stripping song. I made notes during the concert so as not to forget anything. The setlist for the evening was as follows: 1) Rock & Roll Train 2) Hell Ain't a Bad Place To Be 3) Back in Black 4) Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap 5) Thunderstruck 6) Hells Bells 7) You Shook Me All Night Long 8) TNT 9) Black Ice (I was surprised at how awesome this song was in concert! 10) Whole Lotta Rosie 11) Let There Be Rock (with that same old solo) 12) Highway to Hell 13) For Those About to Rock Yes, it looks like they will be recycling the same old show again. However, there were some added cool features. Before the band came out they played a dirty cartoon with an Angus Devil and 2 women on a train. Hilarious! Then this big old train came out behind Phil and then there were some sweet pyrotechnics, and then the band started playing. The train is badass, it shot fireballs during TNT! During Rosie, the inflatable Rosie makes a return to the stage and rides the train. They had a cool video montage of album covers during Let There be Rock. The cannons are loud. My ears will be ringing for a week. I wish I had brought my digital camera inside. I didn't because they made special signs that they posted all over the place that said that you weren't allowed to bring them in. And then there was NO SECURITY SEARCH WHATSOEVER inside. I'm used to seeing them in Oakland where they do a pretty thorough search due to the level of weaponry in that town. Oh well. I can't wait to see the full show. Damn, Brian looks good for a guy my dad's age! Still keepin my fingers crossed for Who Made Who and more songs off Black Ice and maybe a few wildcards from the Bon era. We'll see...
Can Angus still run on stage? :P Ok so if we add The jack, Shoot to thrill that they are certain we have 15 I'm guessing Hard as a Rock and Stiff upper lip will be there so we have 17. Almost certain = R N R ain't noise pollution so we go to 18 and we are missing 2 tracks. Proclaiming that they will do special stuff i have to add the 2 i though of but we get to 20 and we are missing the strip song. Mmm. So i'm guess either we will have a stip on the new song or a stip on a bad boy boogie like song.So anyway here is what i can think of the set list and i don't think i'm way off... 1)Rock & Roll Train 2)Hell Ain't a Bad Place To Be 3)Thunderstruck 4)Hard as a Rock 5)Gonne Shootin' 6)Shoot to thrill 7)You Shook Me All Night Long 8)Stiff Upper Lip 9)Back in Black 10)Strip show - Bad boy boggie stuff 11)Hells Bells 12)Black Ice 13)The jack 14)Rock N Roll ain't 15)Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap 16)Whole Lotta Rosie 17)Let There Be Rock 18)TNT 19)Highway to Hell 20)For Those About to Rock
this setlist would be disappointing for me. ok it was a warmup gig, lets see... hopefully they come out with a better list and play some rare ones...
LAST NIGHT WAS SO FUCKING AMAZING, yeah Angus can still run across the stage, but they are still getting slower, yeah i couldnt believe the setlist either, but since it was a dress reheaesal it was probably just shorter, ILL BE THERE AGAIN ON TUESDAY
So basically they're going through the motions at $100 a pop (unless you buy the ticket through a Ticketmaster scalping site, in which case you could pay $500 a pop for nosebleed seats). What the hell happened to: If You Want Blood RnR Damnation Gone Shootin' Those songs make the show worth seeing itself. The rest, the same old same old setlist is kind of a fucking bore. What a disappointment this band has become. They're basically their own tribute band - a parody of themselves trying desparately to hold onto the glory days of 1979-1980 instead of forging their way forward through time, growing with their audience (and the times) and keeping things new, exciting and spontaneous. Listen to anything 1976-1979 and that's a band worth paying $500 bucks a pop to see. Now - oooohhhhh there's a big train and fireballs and a giant inflatable woman... ...Oooooohhhhh there's lights and cannons and gimmicks galore... How about the fucking music boys? How about the energy and the spontanaeity and the communication? You used to be about something. Now you're just mindless consumerism. Headbanging without a purpose. An "unpredictable" LTBR solo that anybody in the arena or stadium can sing along note-for-note, having heard it a billion times before. At the very least bring back High Voltage and Jailbreak. Those songs seemed to actually be about the music and communication if the 1991 recordings are to be believed. How long can you coast for? Probably forever, if the money's right.
notangus, amen to that bro', dont get me wrong, still my fave band, and no doubt a great show, but how many times do you see the same show? watched the BIB vid, music by numbers, lets face it, we will never see DC again where the front row can see the beads of sweat on Ang's face, too many cameras and security in the pit now! No doubt if they do deign to grace Scotlandwith an appearance I will go,probably the last time to see a good rock n roll band before they quit touring as such, no doubt we'll get the "one offs" now n again, but it seems as you say, and as THEY warned us back in the 90's............................ MONEYTALKS!! No doubt both you n I will get flac for our views, but as I said to the Mrs the other day, remember when AC/DC announced a world tour an you knew the full schedule? none of this releasing dates in dribs n drabs, thats bullshit, theyre off the map for 8yrs on disc n 5 yrs live, they knew the massive demand for new music & a REAL fuckin tour, this current marketing has fuck all to do with the music OR the fans, ITS ALL ABOUT THE $$$$$$$, You disagree? 4 different covers for exactly the same CD? 1 limited edition of.............exactly the same CD, oh yeah with a 30 page book!!!! gee thanks, face it, you got better value with the remasters a few years back. And as for the ticket prices, thats a fuckin joke in this day n age, personally speaking, if I dont get a ticket at face value(IF.. they play Scotland) I aint goin, Id rather spend the £££ on my son, did AC/DC's Mngt, not see the memo bout a worldwide credit crunch? HI GUYS!!!!!! UNLIKE YOU,WE AINT MILLIONAIRES AND WERE ALL FUCKIN SKINT!!! Sad times for music and no doubt people will jump all over these comments, but hey, its a forum where we all have an opinion an this is mine. hen I first got into DC, there were no bells, cannons, inflatable women or fuckin big trains, there were 5 guys and great music! What happened?
So i'm assuming that you will not go to the shows?
And to daclarob that i really like: Mate let's be great full they are still around. I couldn't see bon live because i was very young but i'm very happy they can tour till now.
Yeah, I'm hoping that the set list for Tuesday will see a few gems added. It would be friggin bullshit if this was the actual set of the frigging tour. And these are all AC/DC classics but how many friggin times must they play Back In Black, Dirty Deeds, Whole Lotta Rosie, LTBR and even FTATR? They have so many songs to choose from, many of which haven't been played live or haven't been played live for a long time? Anyway, dissapointed with the set list.
