Review - Chicago Oct. 30
From the nosebleed seats at the Allstate Arena, formerly known as the Rosemont Horizon. About a mile in front of Malcolm and too far to count Phil's cigarettes. The news is getting a little better, there up to 18 songs. This is by far the best sound system I've ever heard, even the back up vocals were loud and clear. Great balance between the vocals and instruments. When the guitars got louder than Brian, the sound crew balanced it out. Maybe it's just my ears but Brian's voice timber sounded like his old self. His voice was more nasal in Wilkes-Barre. The opening video started at 8;30 and the band walked off at 10;15. On with the show... Rock N Roll Train Hell Aint A Bad Place Back In Black Big Jack Dirty Deeds Thunderstruck Black Ice The Jack Hells Bells War Machine Shoot To Thrill Anything Goes You Shook Me All Night Long TNT Whole Lotta Rosie Let There Be Rock Highway To Hell For Those About To Rock This is the 6th time I've seen them and this is the best they ever sounded to me.
I was over in section 202. For me Brians voice and Angus' guitar were very far down in the mix. I recorded the audio of the entire gig but it is very scratchy. I also got about half on video including FTATR. If anyone wants them up ill put them up later
Maybe the acoustics were better in the center of the arena. I'll be off to the side on Saturday night, we'll see. Also when listening to Hells Bells, Angus tried to start on time. They kept playing the bell while he switched guitars.
The Jack. Sap, I thought that was you next to me. Two guys left to get beers during Anything Goes.
LOL Daily about your beers comment. Sapator, I still don't get how you hate Anything Goes so much. Brian's singing is top notch in that song. Yes, actual SINGING. I have listened to the Black Ice album at least 40 times already and STILL I think Anything Goes is the best track they have made in 20 years. I understand how you can chalk it up to pop crap because of the "poppy" sound but it just pushes all the right buttons for me. It is kind of in the same vain as Moneytalks with a poppy, radio friendly sing songy sound but still a great track. The guitar work that underlines the song in the distant background is what I really dig when listening to it with headphones. One thing is for certain about Anything Goes. It appears that people absolutely love it or absolutely hate it. Very strange to have an AC/DC song that the fans seem so polarized one way or the other about their opinion of it which is actually cool because it means people are really deeply listening to the track no matter what the opinion is. I have to admit that the song Black Ice didn't really do it for me at first but now I can't get that riff out of my head because it is absolutely infectious and I think that song is actually one of my favorites now on the album. I am making it my goal to change your mind this year SAP, LOL and get on the Anything Goes lovefest bandwagon. Take care buddy.
When the album first came out, I was not that into the title track, but after seeing it live, it really really grew on me, too. As for Anything Goes, I'm guessing that the record execs probably asked them to do some sort of pop crossover hit that they could play on top 40 radio stations. I predict major mainstream success for that song. When they started streaming the entire album online prior to its release, that's the song that I chose to play on our station. (I had already been playing RNR Train & War Machine to death!) I wanted to show people the versatility of this album since a lot of non-fans cite that all AC/DC songs sound the same. I like Anything Goes, and I hope it draws in even more fans, and I can't wait to see it live. I'm ECSTATIC that they added Shoot to Thrill back in!!!!!! That song is AWESOME live. Can't wait to see the next setlist to see if they change anything else up for the second Chicago show.
Scooter, Please put whatever you have up. Also, can I ask you what you recorded the audio with? I'm with you acdc74. Rock N Roll train is still my favorite off the new album, but I can't stop playing Anything Goes. Thanks for the set list dailydose.
Here we go: http://rapidshare.com/files/159356637/2008-10-30_-_Allstate_Arena__Chicago__IL.zip Here is the audio, the first 3 songs are messed up (very distorted) afterwords it sounds really good for my first recording. There was a lotta talkers around (including me and my friend) and the recorder picked up a lot of it. videos will be up soon
Number 5 isnt war machine its dirty deeds on the download. Audio skips every so often on some songs for some reason
Hey thanks alot! The sound does greatly improve after the first 3 songs. The first encore (Highway To Hell) is missing.
Scooter, If Highway To Hell is missing in the first link, can you put up the whole show and add an entirely new link a 2nd time around which includes Highway To Hell? That's if you taped H2H. Thanks
For dailydoseofacdc: I believe my seats are nosebleeds tomorrow...how was the view? Was it easy to see the band? And will a 4X-8X zoom camera do me any justice in terms of good pictures?
As far as the view was thank goodness for the big screen. BBFootBallr54 any filming would be appreciated. I'm still waiting for the first full DVD of the tour to surface. Burn one and I'll gladly work a trade with you.
Dont worry about security either, I walked in with a camera in my hand and a mp3 player in my pocket. There was flashes going off the entire time. If I could do it again I would have brought my good camcorder

Here's just H2H http://rapidshare.com/files/159439099/17-Highway_to_Hell.zip The re upload of the entire show is uploading now and will be posted when I get home from work. I will work on videos this weekend and will be up later.

Haha! Well if you are going to put me on the black list for Anything Goes then i will not leave on the song,ok :P Actually i'm afraid(and happy) that it will not make the crossover to the other side of the Atlantic. Will see. And i can't understand why we are getting 18songs and 4 new ones when we must have 20songs and 2 new ones..Well 3 tops. Where is bad boy boogie? Oh behind that panting..Nop..Ah under the bed..Nop... Listen i'm afraid that the really good stuff will be played on Europe.Namely POWER(FRIKIN)AGE stuff. Ok so far so good will see how it goes. Damn i listened Anything goes again and i pushed next on the first 10 seconds.Sorry i can't do it :P
LOL, Sapator. Maybe next time you will stick around 20 seconds before going on to the next song. Then 30 seconds the time after that etc. until you are finally ready to listen to the whole song and eventually you will love it, ha ha
I cannot believe that i don't like an AC/DC song but sometimes s$it happens :P Maybe the song is not AC/DCs ? Ok next time i'll go for 20 seconds but i'm burning my brain with The Razor's edge album this time around, so next time i'll put black ice i will give it a try :) And why not play Rock N roll dream live. At least you must agrre it's better than Big Jack.
Rock N Roll Dream blows away Big Jack, I totally agree. RnR Dream is probably my 3rd or 4th favorite on the album. By the way, I will get shit for this, but I am really NOT a fan of the song Thunderstruck.
@acdc74 bro.... u are so f****** true... :) Thunderstruck is a Song for Poser, a song for dudes, a song for mtv viewers.... and so on... guess now i have to give my munic and frankfurt tickets back... awaiting email from managment...
Hey dailydose what did you think of the Answer. I think they could make a alright led zeppelin cover band but not good enough to be touring with AC/DC. But the singers got Steven Tyler's moves down.
I think it's the amount of times you heard Thunderstruck. I would love to hear Razor's edge live but if the setlist stays the same (already told i doubt it) i should be greatfull they even do Thunderstruck.
just to let those two know iv heard thunderstruck prolly over 500 times and it never gets old defintely top 5 acdc song
Heres the videos I got Thunderstruck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwFm5YCnMPI For Those About to Rock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWvQQ304u2w Black Ice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peG7YoOb7Dg
