Black Ice Tour Opening Song

I hope that AC/DC don't narrow themselves to RnR Train as the opening song for the whole tour, considering the hundreds of others they have to pick from. It's not like they need to stick to RnR Train as the opening song, either. Remember the Ballbreaker tour, where they started out with a wrecking ball hitting the stage and knocking down a styrofoam wall and then opened with Back in Black? A precedent has already been set for them opening with whatever the fuck they want. I think a firm argument can be made for RnR train being dropped from the set or at least put somewhere else in the set, too, considering it's about the 15th best song on the album. What I'm trying to say is, as cool and technologically hip and 19th Century Victorian England as having a train crash through the stage, if this is to be their last tour (as it's sounding likely that it is), the band should really relax and alternate their opening song every 10 shows or so. They seem to be playing shows every other day, so it shouldn't be a problem for them to rehearse 1-5 new songs on their days off. If the Stones can do it, so can AC/DC. They're making major bucks on this tour and there's no reason they can't work hard to earn it... Before everyone responds, I just want to get a few responses out of the way: Sapator will say: "You're dreaming." travishayes will say: "But but but...I can't see how any other song would work as an opener for a multimillion dollar professional travelling band..." Everyone, please respond. Tell AC/DC that they don't have to give us a rigid opening song just because they're accidentally going steampunk with their opener... What opening songs would you like to see on this tour?

Notangus, I think you are dreaming if you think that AC/DC is going to change the opening song from RnR Train. The whole cartoon intro and stage set up is wrapped around this song so there is no way that it is going to happen. I always liked Guns For Hire as the opener!!!

I agree with acdc74 on this one...the opening video is set for the first song being RNRT and I can't see it being used for another song at this point. however this could change. remember how during SUL they opened with YSMANL and by the time they went to europe it was the tital track? stay tuned for more details right? as for as openers....I liked Hells Bells in 81/82 and I liked the way they opened with GFH. WMW was cool Heatseeker was classic Thunderstruck got me in the mood Back in Black was a shock but cool least favorite opener....FOTW (1985) Rock on my ac/dc family!

Wow, it wasn't Sapator who told me I was dreaming this time. "The whole cartoon intro and stage set up is wrapped around this song so there is no way that it is going to happen." Yeah, what a fucking waste of time. Like I (or anyone else, for that matter) cares about a train crashing through a stage. Is it only me or did anyone else notice that the sound effects for the train are basically the same and take about the same amount of time as the crane carrying the styrofoam ball over to the Ballbreaker stage? If you read my post, you will see that I point out there is a precedent for AC/DC not playing the song they are alluding to with their intro. On the Ballbreaker tour, the styrofoam ball breaks down the stage and they begin with Back in Black, not Ballbreaker, remember? There is absolutely no fucking reason they have to open up with RnR Train, other than it's the lead off single from Black Ice (But wait? I thought AC/DC were an album band? Curious, this...). And given that RnR Train is about the 15th best song on the album, there's no reason to overplay it when there are so many other songs off of the album they can open with (Black Ice or War Machine, anyone?) and so many classics that would absolutely rock and bring the house down with joy and humour (Big Balls, Squealer, Live Wire, etc). And for those naysayers who think that AC/DC couldn't possibly every for whatever reason given whatever situation possible play It's a Long Way to the Top, no band has ever earned it more and no lead singer (other than Bon) has ever earned it more than Brian. It's taken him 28 years to finally get some respect as AC/DC's "new" lead singer and as a singer in general - the guy fucking DESERVES to sing that song... It would also make a fantastic opener or encore track...

I agree that they should play It's a Long Way to the Top. I thought that the only song that should have been sacred to Bon would be Ride On due to him baring his soul on those lyrics, but Brian has sung that one, so why in the hell should they not do Long Way to the Top?

I'm less concerned about what the show opens with (In my opinion, it should be Rock N Roll Train everytime on this tour), than what the song selection is for the rest of the show. Give us a couple of gems at every show. C'mon dudes! So many great songs that haven't been played for a long time (or not at all) and we get several songs that have been played to death. Mix it up, C'mon!

Same all same all. I think instead of complaining you better try to enjoy the show. You ARE going to see them right? Listen if they do this tour and then they make a quick album in 2-3 years then i will be on your side about playing the same songs but for now please for goodness shake get it into your head that these are the songs and probably will change 2-3 in Europe and stop whining(i don't know if i spelled it right).Damn it man you are more stubborn than i am and believe me i am a very stubborn person. (with Night Prowler being the worst case of stubbornness ever :P but a good friend never the less) P.S. I see you put my name in front on many occasions.I don't have anything against you. You're a fan with different views hope you don't have anything against me too...But this stubbornness...

Exactly, you know they're gonna be playing the same songs and the first song won't change. I think it's an awesome song, though not the best one on the album. We've all got our faves, mine is Wheels. My opinion is they should drop Anything Goes (what a horrible commercial song) and Big Jack, play Stormy May Day and a little surprise like RnR Damnation or something a bit more obscure. It's a Long Way to the Top would be so awesome... But they have always wanted to please the majority, and that's probabley the key to their live succes. Fans know they'll get what they want, except for the die hards like us who would want a bit more. Just live with that fact, go see the shows (i'm seeing 6 on this first leg) and no more complaints please.

I'd die a happy man if they brought back If You Want Blood. While the current set list isn't my favorite, you will never hear me complain about anything they play if I can go to a show. I'm able to make it to 1 this leg of the tour (down from 3 since I found out I'd be out of town in January when they come to my area again) so I'm just happy I get to see them again.

I agree with sapator! I personally thought the show was awesome! I liked the intro cartoon and the train! I really hope this isn't their last tour. I would love to go to another show but not able to do it at this time. I am just thrilled I was able to see one (this tour)!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: BOOOORING! I mean, AC/DC is known for beating songs to death, but this setlist is more generic than Donnington. I know it will change for Europe, but America always gets BOOORING setlists.
