AC/DC's Toronto show loud, but soulless
According to this review from Toronto's Globe and Mail, AC/DC are phoning it in and refusing to acknowledge their history with their setlist: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20081110.wacdc10/BNStory/Entertainment/home As a consolation prize, the audience seemed to respond anyways...
I would agree with that assessment from the article. From what I can hear of burnboy's recording, they were very loud; however, I think that was more the sound system's fault and not their own. It's been reported that there was alot of distortion...more than just from the boys playing alone. In the recording, you can plainly hear that the sound system is maxed out most of the time, like the sound guys decided to take a nap on the mixing board. As for no soul...well, everyone has their off days. I don't see much in the article with regards to the setlist, aside from they did the usual stuff, thus delivering the goods. Refusing to acknowledge their history, as you put it, never came up, and wasn't even the point of the article.
Never came up? I recommend reading the complete article... "But by the end of the night, it all seemed a bit rote. AC/DC has a history here, yet at no time did Johnson or anyone else reference it." As for it being the point, I never said it was the point, but it is interesting that their "rote" setlist is being acknowledged as pretty unexciting. As for no soul, well that was the point of the article. You may want to take a look at the headline: "AC/DC sell their soul..." Hopefully you're smart enough to figure the rest out yourself...
Alright, so they do the same songs alot. So do alot of other bands. Don't like it, then don't see them. I like it, so do millions of others. You've made the same argument over a dozen times now, and various posts. Great, we get it, you don't like their concerts. We all acknowledge the fact they don't vary the setlist alot. Why bring it up ALL THE TIME? It's been said in many, many newspapers for a long, long time. And we like it that way. You think they'd have many people going to their concerts if all they played was the lesser known songs from Flick of the Switch and Powerage? Give it a rest now.
