Black Ice mispress
Well,I finally got the last & most rare version of black ice in now. this copy is going to be the next super collectible i do believe: AC/DC Black Ice ,U.S. press, mispressed lp,disc 1,side 2 plays the Clash on it. For those interested, here are the matrix numbers : side 1 : 8869 - 7 - 38377 - 1A side 2 : 8869 - 7 - 34880 - 1B- mispressed side side 3 : 8869 - 7 - 38377 - 1C side 4 : 8869 - 7 - 38377 - 1D side 2 should be should be 8869-7-38377-1B Check out the track listing for side 2. Rock The Casbah Train In Vain Career Opportunities Spanish Bombs Clampdown English Civil War Should I Stay Or Should I Go ? I Fought The Law Side 2 is The Clash in concert. Pic of Black Ice Mis-press Notice how many tracks are on the vinyl & how much closer it comes to the label compared to a good copy after you enlarge the picture. good copy mispressed copy only know of 3 copies like this so far. so,just how many of you are going to open up your copy to see if you have it?? only way to tell is by looking at the vinyl itself, nothing on cover will tell you, they are the same & it has to be a 2nd pressing. so if you ordered it during the pre sale, chances are it is not a mispress & they are now on the 3rd pressing of it,so ordering now in hopes of is pointless. i am sure that collectors will be looking for the mispress franticly for this just like the other ac/dc mispressings that are out there: LET THERE BE ROCK Mispress LP, "Bad Boy Boogie" is on both sides. German press BACK IN BLACK Mispress LP, plays "If You Want Blood" on B-side.German press LET THERE BE ROCK Misspress, both sides play side A. UK press THE RAZOR'S EDGE Misspress, different band on B side. UK press if anyone out there has any of the above or a mispress i forgot to mention, please send me a pm & let's make a deal, ;-) also,if anyone has any questions about this mispress, feel free to pm me.
What band is on the Razor's Edge mispress?
no idea, don't know anyone personally who has it.
So it does exist? Wow...an I thought it was rumor started by some random 15 year old kid.
no travis,it isn't a rumor started by some 15 year old kid. i've known for almost 2 weeks that it was real, just wasn't letting anyone else know about it until i got a copy for myself 1st. & now i'm working on another copy that someone has & i should close the deal for it very soon, ;-)
Well, some of these things you can never be too sure about until you get absolute proof. But hey, it makes me feel loads better when I screw up at something, knowing Sony screwed up this bad...(granted it probably wasn't Sony's fault, but still, it's a pressing plant that is probably owned by Sony so it's indirectly their fault). It was probably quite shocking for the people who went to play War Machine and instead heard Rock The Casbah...I can imagine some people's reactions...
"It was probably quite shocking for the people who went to play War Machine and instead heard Rock The Casbah...I can imagine some people's reactions..." there would only be one reaction Trav, and that would be a universal, "oh yes!, you effin beauty!"
Also on the CD side there is a double cd Asian version of Stiff upper Lip and BiB, official Sony release that has Hells Bells played live instead of studio. The cd's are in gold.
"But hey, it makes me feel loads better when I screw up at something, knowing Sony screwed up this bad...(granted it probably wasn't Sony's fault, but still, it's a pressing plant that is probably owned by Sony so it's indirectly their fault)." wrong travis, sony has no connection to a pressing plant other then being a customer. all vinyl pressings plants in the u.s. are privately owned, the most sony or any other record label in the u.s. may have is a acetate cutter & that's a big maybe.
Well, it still makes me feel good when I screw up and make a typo that somebody who's supposed to be on top of their game (like a vinyl pressing plant) can screw up so bad that they accidentally press the wrong record. I'm still wondering how they managed to do that, but at least the matrix numbers are close...and not something like "1111-2-3333333" when it should be "2222-3-44444444"
PS: I took the time to add this to the Black Ice Wikipedia page, since it is now confirmed to exist. The "full time" editors of Wikipedia will probably flip...but this is too good not to add.
1 of the miss presses has finally shown up on ebay: Black Ice Mispress on eBay can't wait to see what it may go for, ;-)
about 2 hours to go & it's at $522 Au($345 u.s.). happy as a fly on shit about it right now but hope it goes for a good bit more yet,;-)
I just saw this thread and saw that the mispress sold for $432.00 aud. I obtained one of these mispresses just before Christmas from a local electronics store. When I realized it was a mispress I went back and asked them if any others were also mispressed. He said every one of their stock so far had been the mispressed version from what customers have said. (20 had been shipped in total). I then bought the remainder of their stock which was 5 more records all from the same shipping box. So I am now in posession of 6 of the mispressed LP's!!!! They were all at a promo price of $20.00 Canadian dollars each. Quite an investment considering I just saw what the ebay one sold for.
just got myself another 1 on ebay, the count is now 3 for me, ;-) nightprowler's Black Ice Mis-press from eBay
Well this whole mispress issue probably explains why we in Adelaide had to wait until around mid-December for the LP's to finally appear in a few recod stores here - by which time I had already ordered mine on Amazon.com (and had to wait until 2 days ago to receive it, as the original one got lost in the post somewhere).
