Its a Long Way to the Top
I was looking through wikipedia and found this under Its a Long Way to the Top "It should be noted that this song was only performed live in 1976. This song was not played after Bon set the bagpipes down at the corner of a stage and they were destroyed by fans. It was performed one last time in 1979, but synthesisers were used instead of the bagpipes." I have never heard the story of his bagpipes being trampled or that they used synths instead of bagpipes. Can anybody confim this story and have a copy of the show with synthesisied bagpipes?
Well i heard the bagpipes were stolen. But the story about the synthesizer is true, i have a bootleg from a 1979 show where it was used.
1979-12-17 - Hammersmith Odeon, London, England this is the show by the way
You can't trust everything on Wikipedia... They did the song a few times in 1977, as it is on the 1977-01-30 - Haymarket - Sydney show withOUT bagpipes. From what I gather, Bon was actually not liking how much work it took to play the pipes on stage, as he had to hook small mics up to the pipes to pick it up, and was somewhat pleased when they were stolen off the stage, because it was his way out of having to hook up the small mics.
haha great story Travishayes and thanks mkalic for the information and I actually do have the show.
What a coincidence! It's a long way to the top is one of the songs that our band is playing next. Actually it'd be great to throw in a synthesizer instead of bagpipes.
