I have made some research about I am a Rebel. The fact is, that Accept recorded that song, because they are AC/DC Fans. It exist an 8 demo track of I am a Rebelwhen AC/DC has recorded it. Line up at that night was: Bon Scott: Vocals/Drums (?) Angus Young: Guitar Malcom Young: Guitar Alexander Young: Bass And now the most important question is. Why is this song still unreleased. The anwser: After the recording session Alex became worried about the release of the song. He though that his little brothers will hate him when he release a song that was recorded from outside and not from Australia. Alexander Y. has passed now many years ago and nobody had the chance to ask him if he still wouldnīt release I am a rebel. And so this song wouldnīt release because it was Alex his last will. But an other fact i found is that its now up to Mr. Albert and his wife to make the decission and release the song.

taken from "crapsodyinblue" and also see: maximum rock and roll: In the archives of the Hamburg music publisher "SCHACHT" an AC/DC rare piece gets dusty - MOPO tells, why ... Bon Scotts session in Maschen 15th of September, 1976: It smells of sweat and beer. On the stage of the "factory" Bon shouts the soul from his body, while on his shoulders sits a stripling of just 50 kilos and treats fervently his Gibson guitar. At this moment Rudy Holzhauer anticipates that he had made a big mistake. The chaotic troop announced as "pop group No 1 of Australia" was AC/DC. A band which had been offered to the music publisher "SCHACHT" a few weeks previously as a contracting partner. But he declined. "When I saw them live, I was fret and fume." The first Hamburg appearance of Angus and Co., nevertheless, remained not without effect. 28th of June, 2001: "I'm A Rebel" resounds Bon Scotts charismatic voice from the speakers of Benjamin Schacht, the current chief of the studio. A simple structure, strong riffs - a typical AC/DC piece. But one which nobody knows. "After the "factory" Gig we asked the boys to record a song for us", explains Holzhauer. "Shacht" took over the studio expenses, because the song was written by one of his Hamburg authors: Alec Young - a brother of AC/DC who died 4 years ago. "During the day after the Gig the band came in at 6 o'clock (pm) to the Maschener studio, had breakfast (a bottle of Whiskey) and recorded the song in a few hours", reports Holzhauer. The song was never published. However, a few years later Accept interpreted it again - and landed their first success. However, the original recording gets dusty since then in the "Schacht" archives because the AC/DC record company does not seem to be interested in a release of the rare piece. Bon Scott is dead and that the rest of AC/DC is still alive is a miracle for the eyewitnesses of that time: "We were happy to take part in that, because nobody credited these musicians to survive the next year".

So here is the version that I found. Taken from http://www.kolumbus.fi/nononsense/rebel.htm I'M A REBEL In September of 1976 AC/DC played few dates in Germany. Well, that isn't very extraordinary. But during the German dates they did something that they would not do until 1979. They had recording sessions outside Alberts without George Young and Harry Vanda. They recorded one song - that still remains unreleased - which was written by Alex Young (elder brother of Angus and Malcolm). The sond is called "I'm A Rebel". Rudy Holzhauer was present when the song was recorded: "Angus and Malcolm agreed to do that song immediatly, because they wanted to do Alex a favour - to record the song. The reason why they didn't never release it - I don't know - because it was similar to the stuff what they did at that time". "The song was written by Alex - who used to live in Hamburg - he passed away few years ago", Holzhauer continues, "even the lyrics was written by Alex". There weren't many people present when it was recorded. "I was only person of the time, I waited that they started. They were supposed to start around 4 pm and they started about 5 or 6 pm. I really can't remember that well, it was a long long time ago. Also Alex and Jurgen Magnus (who was at that time engineer for that studio - which was outside Hamburg) were present. I can remember that Bon was very drunk". Almost thirty years later, when asked about the song from Mark Evans: "I'm A Rebel? I don't have any memories of it". "I do remember that we stayed at Alex's home, but I have no recollection of that song at all, it was about 25 years ago". Mark said that "it is possible that the boys might have done that without me, because Alex used to play bass also, and Bon had done some drumming as well". Later on German group Accept covered it and the original was similar to the Accept's version. Rudy Holzhauer commented "basically they covered that one on one". But the original AC/DC version remains in the vaults. "Alex never gave a permission to release it. He was always scared that his brothers would not like the idea of song getting released", says Rudy Holzhauer, "And now Alex has passed away and we respect his will". Alberts Records are the only ones who can get those mastertapes (or copy of it). Holzhauer told that "if they want to release it on a B-side or whatever, that is alright by the publisher and Alex's wife. If they don't - the tapes remain in the archives". "But one thing is certain, this unique song is true. I'm one of the very few lucky bastards to have heard of this unreleased Bon -era AC/DC tune!!" Pekko (with the kind help of Rudy Holzhauer and Mark Evans)
