Regarding Problems with the 'Know Your AC/DC' competition

So it's clear that something is wrong with the zip files I've used for the competition, although I can't recreate it myself. But a number of you have not had any problems at all, so I'm kind of stuck and would like some feedback from you all. I definitely had a great response to this idea and want to keep it fair for everyone. I had been keeping track of the time it took you to get your answers in starting at when you downloaded the .rar file until the time you finalized your picks. This worked fine for everyone that was able to unzip the files correctly. For those that couldn't unzip the files, the times they'll get will be bad considering it sometimes took me a few hours to get them the correct file, which could easily put them out of the running for the competition. So here is what I'm thinking. The current competition will be null & void, with no prizes being given away for the results. You would still be able to view the results, however, so you could see how you did and what you got right/wrong. That would be a bit of a pain for those that didn't have any problems with the compressed file. For next month, I would then run another competition with the same ground rules from April 1 - 15. This time around, I would use a different way of hosting the audio file so there should be little to no problem listening to it. I would create a whole new mix of songs, so everyone would be starting from scratch. Please let me know what you all think of this. I realize if I keep it going as it it's not fair to everyone, but then again if I stop it and restart it, it's again not fair to everyone. I'm just trying to pick the lesser of 2 evils basically. I'm also interested in (for those that were able to hear the mix) what you thought of it. Too easy? Too tough? Too many songs or not enough? Please let me know so if I do end up making another one, it'll still be challenging. Thanks for your patience.

I agree that there seems to be no fair way to salvage this month's contest. I think that it is a GREAT concept, and I hope that the kinks can be worked out for next month! I never heard the mix, but I also would be interested to hear what others thought of the difficulty level. I am also curious as to what is more important, the number correct, or the amount of time that it takes to complete it. For example, if someone takes 2 days and gets all 75 songs, is that better than someone who takes 2 hours and gets 74 songs?

ya nate, great job with this new special! I think its a great idea. The mix was great becasue it contained many not-so-much-well-known gems. It was a little tricky when you played parts of the solos instead of the main riffs which gave a bit of a challenge, but thats the whole point of the contest right? Anyway, great job Nate!
