Away from the Site for a while
Due to some major flooding in my area, I will be checking in only occasionally. My house is not in an immediate danger, but there is an open request for volunteers that I will be taking part in tomorrow, if not sooner. There are a number of things going on at the moment with the site that I will address as soon as I can. The river is supposed to crest later this week, so I will check back in when I can. If you are anywhere near the Fargo, North Dakota or Moorhead, MN area, please consider helping out. Please go to this website to find out more about volunteering your time: http://valleyfloodwatch.com/ You can also keep track of what's going on here: http://www.inforum.com/
I wish I could help you guys over there but I hope your family and friends won't be affected by the flood. best of luck buddy!
thats a real shame, also best of luck to you too nate, hope yourself, your home and family come to no danger, thats whats important, but itll be good to have ya in and out
Hope everything goes well for you and no one is in immediate danger that you know
that sucks. well, see you soon and good luck, nate.
Hi folks, just checking in. I spent the morning filling sand bags and sending them out to areas that need them. The river is now expected to reach over 41 feet (highest in about 100 years), and most of the city is being evacuated just in case the sand bag dikes fail. My company's building is located about 3 blocks from the river and we are closing this afternoon for a few days just in case. Many of my friends have already been evacuated, but my house is still safe for now. We still are not expecting anything where I live, but with the water never being this high before, who knows. Below is a web cam that is pointed at the Red River that runs between Fargo and Moorhead. Normally, the river runs about 15 feet below the base of the bridges and you can see that it is nearly touching them now (if it hasn't already). A lot of the new housing developments south of Fargo have been flooded already and people are losing everything. I'll be heading back to the sand bagging area tomorrow morning to keep helping out, so wish us luck and keep us in your thoughts/prayers. The river is expected to reach it's highest point on Saturday, but that could change with the blizzard we just went through yesterday and more snow on the way.
Nate, You guys are in my prayers. I heard that on the radio this morning about the 41 ft. high water. That is just plain nuts. Great job helping out your town!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck, brother Nate. T'is mighty decent of you offering your services to the ones that most need it, but judging from what you do thru this site alone, that wasn't a doubt ;-) Karma shall reward you, peace.
So far so good. I am up early to go and volunteer and the sandbagging locations are currently closed. It seems we've done all we can do and now we just have to sit and watch.
