why cant you just have 1 site instead of three. also on the torentsite your making is it possible for download links for non torrent users like me? that would be cool if you could doownload shows from one of YOUR sites instead of going to rapidshare megaupload etc.
would have preferred to have this as a private message or an email as common courtesy, but here goes: acdc-bootlegs.com: my first main site, been around since 2003. I'll keep it running as long as I can because of name recognition. acdc-videos.com: i took it over in 2005(?), ran for a long time before me by Gui. it deserves it's own domain based on the history (if i could get a hold of acdc-list.com, I'd point it to acdc-videos.com if i could. these 2 sites use the same database, same user accounts. once I get a chance, I will make it so once you log into one, you will be logged into the other. why not combine the 2? i'd prefer to keep the information on the different angles with all of the screen shots relative to acdc-videos.com. i mention them in the concert history in acdc-bootlegs.com, but would prefer to expand on that info on acdc-videos. acdc-boots is already pretty clogged with info ac/dc torrent site: the code base for this site is completely foreign to me. if i could somehow take the time to dissect it and incorporate it into one of the other sites, i would. at the moment, i simply don't have the time. it was much easier to take a stable code base from the creator's of Dime and run with it. also, by splitting up the load on the server between different sites, it helps use the resources available more evenly. rapidshare/megaupload site: quite honestly, i don't have the knowledge to build one of these. they use a lot of methods in controlling the rates people download files. these sites would also go through a ton of bandwidth due to the amount of files downloaded. at the moment, i don't believe i'd be able to get too many paying customers so a site like this would run me into the ground. would it be nice to have it worked directly into one of the sites? yes, definitely. if you're a non-torrent user, i'll do my best to make it possible so you can be a torrent user. If that still doesn't get you into the site, then I've done my best. I hope this explains where I'm coming from. if at some point in the future i can combine all 3 and work in the rapidshare-type site, i will. for now, use what you can. the main thing i've learned from running the sites is that you will never make everyone happy. you may think you're doing a good job, but there will always be someone pissed off at how you manage things. so all i can do is aim for a happy medium.
Hey Nate: You do a wicked job on all of the sites and deserve maximum respect and credit not just from fans of the band, but the band themselves. Here's hoping AC/DC recognizes you for your part in keeping their fan base alive, vibrant and in touch with what you're doing and hand you a few front row seats to one or more of their concerts over the next few years. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, but in all honesty I'm not out for recognition or anything (although front row tix would be nice!). I'm just a fan trying to share and bring the band to other fans, and grab a few shows for myself in the process. I've gained a lot more than just a few shows over the years. The people I've met and the friends I've made have really made this site worth all the work that went into it.
