Cool, but: Dave Ellefson should rejoin Megadeth. So should Marty Friedman. Yes, Dave Mustaine is an arrogant ass, but he writes awesome music which is made that much better with the presence and chemistry of these two musicians. And: I also have to agree with another poster on this site who said they really liked Simon Wright's drumming. I think he really brought a young, vital open energy to AC/DC's sound and I really enjoy the 1985-1988 shows precisely because of how he drove the band forward and made them push themselves that much harder. In a way, he was like a Bon Scott of the drumming world - he took a band with great riffs and made them (live, at least) a little bit more than what they were by pushing them to the edge. The same is true of the 1988 shows with Stevie Young. The combination of the Stevie Young-Simon Wright rhythm section really brought a vital energy to AC/DC. I'm not saying they've lost that energy - their vital energy is one of their "strange attractors" and why they have so many fans. I'd say what AC/DC is now is a middle-aged, rootsy, bluesy R&B band. It would be a thrill to hear them pull out some old Motown, James Brown, Janis Joplin or Louis Armstrong covers in an intimate setting such as VH1 Storytellers or a small club show. I think that if they also wanted to step into the present, they could do an absolutely killer cover version of Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good." That song is rock and roll, through and through, from the killer baseline to the whacked out lyrics to Amy's Bon Scott like emotional honesty and killer delivery. I'm sure Brian could easily pull it off and have great fun with the hilarious lyrics while he's at it.
isnt simon wright also the drummer for Rhino Bucket? i dont know if he still is but i know theyre coming out with a new album
Great suggestion Notangus. AC/DC should became a cover band. Bravo! Congrats! They should cover Amy Winehouse's , because she outdrunk and outdrag them all. Wait...No fuck that, i prefer them the way they are! And when Simon Wright, left they made Razor's edge and Ballbreaker and they were no1 again.Phill rud or Chris Slade any day over Dio boy. Ah, also Stevie Young...Ok, fluck Malcolm as well. P.S. You Know I'm No Good is a boring gospel. Because noone plays them nowadays does not mean that it's revolutionary.Amy drughouse wont be on music industry next year. Will talk then.Killer rock n roll my left d&ck. And into my native language. "AC/DC re mounia kai na parete t'arxidia mou!" Sorry for the unfriendly language but AC/DC become a cover band may well be the stupidest idea ever, it may even outtake my idea of Angus wear a Thundercats costume and have a sword of omens guitar-pack :P (thought it was a good idea at the time, mmm)
While I don't think AC/DC should do covers, I agree with everything else notangus said. "isnt simon wright also the drummer for Rhino Bucket? i dont know if he still is but i know theyre coming out with a new album" Yeah, he's still with Rhino Bucket, who are awesome. However, the only album he has drummed on so far is Pain, but he will be on their new album as well.
