This is a bit random I know but I was just wondering, for anyone who has seen the band on the current tour, how loud were they compared to when seeing them on previous tours?

They're as loud as they'd been the past few tours but ever since the early '90's they've turn the volume down a bit and the sound has also changed.

I am sure Boothjorden will agree but this tour is nowhere near as loud as November 17, 1983. Still the loudest concert I have ever been to and the best. My ears rang the entire next day and didn't stop until the 2nd day after the concert. For the last few tours, my ears were ringing before I went to bed but they were not ringing in the morning.

Indeed, acdc74. That concert was very loud and my ears rang for a week. Ever since the late-'80's their concerts have been getting less power.

Since this is my first time on a "closed roof venue", if i compare them with the stadium shows. They must be minus 30% loud. Hope they don't stay that low on the stadium shows. But i actually show that the amount of amplifiers that were used on the indoor shows were half the amount they use on stadiums. So i'll wait and see.

Sapator, they only mic one amp per member, the rest are for show. But trust me, one Marshall is enough! I don't think they've purposely gotten quieter, I think they've just lost the strength they used to have. That would explain why after the Razor's Edge Tour (when you guys said they got quieter), they had a cleaner sound (because they weren't hitting the strings as hard).

I was talking about the speakers on the roof. Also if i'm not mistaken Ang and Mal use 4xMarshall amplifiers. The 2001 stadium tour was extremely loud.If they keep the same sound in the stadium tours i will be very happy.

It was probably pretty loud in Oakland, but I'll never know because The Answer was so damn loud and that guy's voice split my ears in half before AC/DC came out. At the rehearsal gig they were not very loud at all. Only the cannons made my ears ring. Compared to previous shows that I have attended, I would guess that it's about the same, although when I saw them in '91 it was outdoors. I went to one Oakland show with a co-worker in his 60s who has seen Zeppelin, The Who, and countless other bands. He said that the AC/DC show was the loudest thing that he had ever experienced in his entire life, and The Who were supposed to be pretty loud.

When I went to the Spokane show in '78, it was loud. But at the Tacoma '08 show, it was louder! So my opinion is that the Black Ice tour is louder than other tours.
