Simon wright
There is one very important question I need answered. Was Simon Wright smart the leave AC/DC for Dio? There both huge bands but I need to know was it a smart choice?
No, not at all a smart choice. Ronnie James Dio left the band for Black Sabbath after Lock Up The Wolves was released. When the band got back together, they decided to choose another drummer. After two commercially bad albums, FOTS and FOTW, AC/DC started heading in the right direction again with BUYV, which sold more copies than the previous two combined. Simon could have enjoyed more success with AC/DC instead of leaving for a band that disbanded soon after he joined.
Although it is worth noting he is back with Dio, but they haven't released anything for a long time.
He brought a good sound to AC/DC, but in the end it probably didn't matter, anyways. Even if he had been there for the massive success of The Razor's Edge, they would have let him go in favour of Phil Rudd immediately following that tour, anyways. It's probably as it was meant to be.
He just sounds like a drum machine. Slade and Rudd are way better.
