Hey everyone, I'm in a band called "The Rise Of Salvation" and we are going to start playing live soon, and I want a live recording of every show we ever play (so if we make it big it will be a little easier to get live shows). So I don't really know how to record a live show. Our guitarist has a digital 8-track recorder, and I don't know if I could record using that. Well if anyone can help it would be apprecated.

well if you are micing everything up and running it through a mixer then you could use one of the extra outputs on the mixer. If not the only way to to use a live recorder like for an AC/DC show

I don't care what AC/DC may have said Rap without the Shaddow of a doubt is noise pollution. -Cody Hope That's a vaguely late-80s, early 90s point of view to take. I'm not even sure "rap" exists anymore. I'm pretty sure the music of today is called "hip-hop" or something else far beyond the "rap" label. I think if you educate yourself, you will find that those who said such things in the late 80s and early 90s, including myself, were very misguided and uninformed. Something like Public Enemy's "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back" and the first three NWA albums are as punk and badass as anything done by the Sex Pistols, Ramones, Bon Scott-era AC/DC and the early Rolling Stones. Further research will show you that this "rap" music you're knocking was born out of the same discontent that the punk and rock and roll stalwarts cited above experienced, the only difference being that rather than white people expressing their discontent, rap music was a product of black people expressing their rage at the world. There is also a thin veil of racism hiding in such statements. You really should think things through a little more before saying these kinds of things. You seem young, though, and the young tend to say stupid things and then figure out how idiotic they were as they get older. It's called enlightenment, self-discovery, etc and with a bit of work, I'm sure you'll get there...

And AC/DC never said Rap wasn't noise pollution...

Well I guess you do have a point. Should have thought that through. I don't hate "rap" but hip hop I guess. 'Cause I like bands like Run DMC, and the beaties boys. So I guess todays hip hop is what I don't like. It may have to do with the fact that I'm 14 and my fellow classmates don't really respect Rock n roll. Like saying that I need to "live in own generation", "rock is noise pollution", and "listen to todays music, not that old crap that you listen to". They listen to Hip-Hop and Rap, so I kindda took out my anger on Rap/Hip Hop. It wasn't rap/hip hop that insulted my music it was some kid who had no idea what he was talking about. So yes I understand where you are comming from notangus. Thanks for helping me realize that.

I believe it was started at the quote in The Cody's signature.

I swear, people really do get distracted by what some have written on their signatures. Well anyway, back on topic here. I once took my cassette recorder to a concert once, the audio was Okay but not really the best. If you can, record through the soundboard, that usually gets the best results.
