war machine or big jack?
which is your favorite from black ice? mine's wm because of the awesome bassline!
If I have to choose between only those two, I'd say Big Jack. I don't like in War Machine when Brian sings "That thiiing, gone wiiild..." because he sounds so strained and whiny.
If I could only choose b/w Big Jack and War Machine I'd go with War Machine, I just love the opening opening bass and drum as well. But overall, my favorite song on the entire album would have to be the title track, it just sounds evil, in a good way. My second would be either War Machine or She Likes Rock N Roll.
i like war machine i didn't like it when they first released it but now i like it
WAR! MACHINE! i knew the first second of the song that i heard that i liked it. it is my favorite of the whole album. such a great chorus. i think after all of the hype is over this will be the "stand out" track of the album, after train. should have been its own single release.
Neither. The more I listen to "Black Ice", the more hollow and empty I find it. Sure, the music itself is awesome, but it is lyrically and emotionally stagnant. About the only track I find somewhat honest and true (in other words - will stand the test of time) is Rock and Roll Dream. It comes across as AC/DC's swan song, as if they had already decided that this was going to be their last tour and these lyrics were born out of that decision. If the band is in touch with themselves and their audience at all (which is questionable at best), they will play this song (at least) as the encore track of the last show of the last concert at this tour and record and film the show (and especially this track) for posterity.
Boothjorden: How is RNR Train evil? That's the most arena-rock song on the album. The most evil is either War Machine, Stormy May Day, or Black Ice. Notangus: True, but their lyrics have sucked since Ang and Mal started writing them. What they needed was Brian for this album. Funnily enough, the one song you think has staying power was written on the spot by Brian. Emotionally stagnant, maybe. I would mainly blame O'Brien because he totally sterilized their sound. Still, Stormy May Day gets a mood going IMO, I hate the production on BI though, so maybe I'm biased.
War machine, for the bass and chorus. But big jack is a good song to. To be honest I didn't expect big jack/anything goes to be played on the tour. While I enjoyed hearing them live, I expected more of money made and skies on fire. Money made because it was cliffs favorite song off of the album and because they said it picked up where moneytalks left off. And considering that they don't play moneytalks I figured the would play money made. As for skies on fire, it was one of the 2 or 3 songs that was played on AC/DC radio that was off the album.
out of war machine or big jack probably war machine because it is just a great AC/DC song. My favorite songs off the album are Black Ice or Rock N Roll Dream.
Hey suicide, I didn't say Rock N Roll Train was evil I said Black Ice was evil, but in a GOOD way. It just has that awesome tone to it.
I like Rocking All the Way and Decibel but that's just me. Between Big Jack or War Machine I'd have to go with Big Jack, no real reason, I just like it over War Machine.
Two great tracks undeniably, but I'm gonna go for WAR MACHINE.
The Cody: Money made is also one of Brian's favorites. When did they say it picked up where MoneyTalks left off? MoneyTalks didn't leave off anywhere; it ended, like every AC/DC song. boothjorden; My bad, for some reason when you said, "title track", I thought RNR Train.
True, but I think (and may be wrong), but on the radio show where they played a lot of black ice stuff and interviews on the new album. I thought I heard cliff say that. And by "left off" I mean the same concept.
Moneytalks is about a woman who only wants him (presumably Brian) for his money. "Hey little girl You want it all The furs, the diamonds, the painting on the wall" Whereas Money Made is about rich one-hit-wonder bitches who think they own the world because they're famous this week (ala Miley Cyrus). "That kind of life is good for her, Gettin' out of bed nearly half past four, Her swimming pool is the biggest about, So don’t you call, ‘cuz she aint around." I would like to hear that interview though.
I personally prefer Big Jack over Wm, simply because of the almighty chorus and great chanty feel the song has. As for the rest of BI, I would have to pick out SMD and RATW as other fav tracks.
Have to go with War Machine even though it sounds a lot like a slowed down version of Given' The Dog A Bone. War Machine is one of the heaviest sounding songs (if not the heaviest) on an album lacking in heavy crunching riffs. Money Made is my favorite song from Black Ice however.
I hate it when people say War Machine sounds like Given the Dog a Bone. The riffs are similar, but played in different keys and the songs are structured totally different. Look at Love Bomb, All Screwed Up, and She Likes Rock 'N' Roll. Those are all using similar riffs in the same key, but nobody says they sound alike.
Personally I think both songs are great and perfectly suited for live performances with their chanting choruses. However, I'll take War Machine over Big Jack. Here's my top songs from the album: 1. Rock 'N Roll Train 2. War Machine 3. Stormy May Day 4. Money Made 5. Skies On Fire 6. Big Jack 7. Anything Goes 8. Black Ice 9. Smash 'N Grab It seems I like a lot songs from BI. I think the album would have been a bit stronger if they reduced it to the nine songs I listed and threw in another one (prolly Rock 'N Roll Dream) but that's for another topic, I suppose.
Just a note here for suicidehummer. When a song is played in a different key it does not mean that it can't be similar to a song played on another key.I don't say that for this song. But anything goes...Mmmm, you know :) Also since you mentioned All Screwed Up, i remember that the riff was a copy from a song....Led Zeppelin?Pearl Jam...I cannot nail it down right now.And also Moneytalks, they intro sound is a copy of a song...Damn it can't remember,i need fish :P .Anyway these are the actual copies of songs, the other AC/DC songs are the usual blues und Hard Rock riffs, of course no copies.
Sap: I know, but it gives it a totally different mood. Given The Dog A Bone is fast and funny, War Machine is slow and evil. The riff in All Screwed Up is pretty simple and not very distinct, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were similar ones out there. MoneyTalks? That intro is very unique, and any similarities to another song have to be purely coincidental. I love MoneyTalks. Well the "usual blues riffs" are all similar anyway, we're just expecting that. My favorites off BI are: 1.Anything Goes (I don't care what Sap says!) 2.Money Made 3.Rockin' All The Way 4.Rock 'N' Roll Dream 5.Black Ice Least favorite: ROCK 'N' ROLL TRAIN!!!
I clarified that i did not pointed to War machine. The two songs i've mentioned have a similar. But my head neurons are down right now :P ....Neurons UP! All Screwed Up riff Led Zeppelin The Wanton Song...
I hear the similarity sapator, a bit different, but defiantly similar
