New AC/DC box set?????
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/808155 Any information about this?
I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, LIVE AND STUDIO RARITIES, I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks to be Aussie only, perhaps to coincide with the Australian leg of the tour. Either that or it's some bootleg material packaged together by an illegitimate seller with some genuine material (Family Jewels).
It says Sony BMG as distributor so it seems legit. Hopefully we get some never heard material .I don't wanna hear Borrowed Time, Cold Hearted Man etc. millionth time again.
It may be the millionth time for us, but it will be the first time for many, many people. The fact that Cold Hearted Man, Crabsody in Blue and the rest of the Bon-era Aussie songs still haven't been released always leaves me with the question of why they didn't release them on the 74 Jailbreak album back in 83-84. They already had 4 songs on that one. If they had added the other 4, they would have had a full album (for the 70s and 80s, anyways). My theory is that the band wanted to bring Jailbreak into the live sets and were probably rehearsing it in private, so they asked the record company to release Jailbreak so the "new" AC/DC fans (following the huge success of Back in Black and FTATR) wouldn't be so unfamiliar with it. AC/DC being as big as they were, I'm sure the record companies said, "Oh! Cash in on your recent explosion into the stratosphere by exploiting the fans for more of their hard-earned dough with a half-assed album of rarities? We're there, dude, we're there!" What really captures my interest in the link is the CD of live rarities. I have a feeling it's going to be pretty much the same as the Kissology CD that came out last year: A very brief collection of some of the live material from the multi-DVD sets which have come out over the last few years. If you look around, you can find the audio rips to all of AC/DC's DVD releases, but it's almost impossible to find the rips to the Kissology DVDs. My guess on that is: a) Gene Simmons has great, very scary lawyers and a very bad attitude to the Kissology DVDs being ripped to audio for the sake of his fans' listening pleasure and b) the Kissology single CD release is a very small concession to the notion that Kiss fans may want to listen to the Kissology DVDs without having to totally potato themselves out on the couch every single time they put the DVD on.
RnRDamnation: would you order it if it turned out to be released over here in North American as well?
booth: I would not order the complete package - I see no reason to pay for Family Jewels yet again. However, if the CDs were released on their own, or as a package together, I would gladly consider handing over a few dollars to finally own decent, remastered versions of Cold Hearted Man, Crabsody in Blue and (more likely than not), music from the Detroit 1983 and Hippodrome 1977 shows. I of course already have them and by the time I fork over my cash they will have been available on torrents for weeks, but I do believe AC/DC earn their money. I just wish they'd cut out the middle-man (ie - Sony) and allow me to pay them directly. Contrary to whoever responds that buying through the AC/DC site is paying them directly, I think a bit of research would show that the cash still goes to Sony before being distributed to Angus and the boys.
@ RnRDamnation Well it was always, that the record company gets some percents of the money. I dun even think that the boys get full of the money when you buy stuff from there site imo About the box set: If I am a Rebel would be in that box, what would not supossed to be inmo, then this box set will be intresting.
well, if they do release it in america, i'm buying it!!!!!!! for now, we'll just have to wait and see if ac/dc says anything about the new box set.
If they don't release it in North America, Sony better be prepared for a torrent of lost profits as our Aussie buddies find ways to make the rareties available to the rest of the world.
Kudos for SONY!!! Yeeeah Sony.Sony rulez!!!!! ... ... Ok i'm joking FU%K SONY!
