HELP! Back in Black Technical Aspects Question
Hi! Does anyone know where I can find info on the technical aspects of the Back in Black album recordings? Like brands of instruments, amps, consoles, mics, etc... Thanks heaps!
http://www.compasspointstudios.com/ This will give you an idea of some of the gear they have, how much of it was used on BIB, I dunno. There's a few bits and pieces scattered through various interviews, etc. Guaranteed they used one of the Neve consoles tho, they do sound shit hot. As for the bands gear, best guess would be that it was just their own standard Marshall/Ampeg amps, Phil's Sonor kit and their own instruments. Some work done at Electric Ladyland, but probably just dubs and/or mixing. Here's a short interview with Tony Platt, the engineer for the sessions. http://www.recordproduction.com/tony-platt-bigvid.html Mutt doesn't do interviews much, so can't get his take.
Hola Calli, you are a legend! It's a school project and I'm in Argentina so there's not much in print or dvd that I can get my hands on. So THANKS MILLIONS! And Platt's interview was really helpful! Big GRACIAS from Buenos Aires xxxx Victoria
Ah, cheers Victoria. Here's a good bit of info I came across a while back, it took me a little while to remember where i'd seen it. This has got a fair bit of info from a guy that works/worked at Compass Point. Good luck with the project. http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/mv/msg/9856/0/48/0/

Cheers mate! Have good one. And of course, if you by chance remember of anything else, please write. THANKS AGAIN! ... and again. xxxxxx Victoria
