i dont know if i'm beating a dead topic or if nobody's really bothered to talk about it, but why doesnt angus ever play the intro to For Those About To Rock live the same way he did on the album version ..i mean, i like that raw gritty sound that comes across when he plays it live. but never have i once heard it live the same way as it is on the album

The actually play it like it is live but on the studio some of the notes are muted a bit.

I love the live version (the version from Detroit 1983 still blows my mind as much as the first time I saw the video when I was a teenager), but there's something to be said for the drama and slow build of the studio version.

Yeah, I like the studio intro also but some live versions of the song are just amazing (thinking Moscow '91 right about now). I just can't get over how John Christ from Danzig pretty much stole the intro riff to FTATR for the main riff to Danzig's song "Mother".

Being a guitarist I can tell you there's no way to control your sound so it sounds exactly like how you recorded it on an album 20 years ago when you're doing a gig at the Giants Stadium. He's playing it exactly the same other than what boothjorden said which is that he palm mutes in the studio version. However, to palm mute live would be way too tiring, especially after playing a whole show.

lol i'm a guitarist, but i was afraid people on here wouldnt respond to this post as much if they didnt know the terms. i dont feel that angus would find it tiring, i just feel that he attacks the song way too hard. like i said though, its sounds pure badA both ways, but i think it would give a bit more epic feel if he would just palm mute at the right times

No, it would be much more tiring palm muting because you have to pluck the strings twice as hard. And like I said, FTATR is at the end of every show so he's pretty damn tired as it is by that time in the show.
