AC/DC Christmas Present
A friend of mine was recently introduced to AC/DC while we were driving around in my car. I made her a two disc live mix to get her started on her journey to discovering more of AC/DC 's music called "Freelance Music Vol. 1 and 2". What do you guys think of this songlist? Note: When I make live mixes I edit each song in Soundforge to have only two seconds of crowd noise at the begining and end, and I edit out long solos in the middle of songs to save space and get more tracks onto one disc. Disc 1: 01.) Rock and Roll Train (Frankfurt 2009) 02.) Back in Black (Largo 1981) 03.) Shake Your Foundations (Austin 1985) 04.) Dog Eat Dog (Madrid 1996) 05.) Hard as a Rock (Madrid 1996) 06.) Sin City (Detroit 1983) 07.) Flick of the Switch (Donington 1984) 08.) Stiff Upper Lip (Circus Krone 2003) 09.) Black Ice (Frankfurt 2009) 10.) Bad Boy Boogie (Munich 2003) 11.) Jailbreak (Dallas 1985) 12.) The Razor's Edge (Live 1991) 13.) This House is on Fire (Detroit 1983) 14.) War Machine (Frankfurt 2009) 15.) Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (Donington 1991) 16.) Ballbreaker (Madrid 1996) 17.) Shoot To Thrill (Donington 1991) 18.) Bonny / Highway To Hell (Live 1991) Disc 2: 01.) Hells Bells (Live 1991) 02.) Shot Down in Flames (Madrid 1996) 03.) Thunderstruck (Donington 1991) 04.) Have a Drink on Me (Donington 1984) 05.) Guns For Hire (Detroit 1983) 06.) Girls Got Rhythm (Madrid 1996) 07.) Boogie Man (Madrid 1996) 08.) Problem Child (Munich 2003) 09.) Who Made Who (Live 1991) 10.) Money Talks (Live 1991) 11.) Safe in New York City (Phoenix 2000 / 01) 12.) Sink the Pink (Unknown 1985) 13.) Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution (Madrid 1996) 14.) If You Want Blood (Circus Krone 2003) 15.) Whole Lotta Rosie (Madrid 1996) 16.) Rock and Roll Damnation (Circus Krone 2003) 17.) TNT (Largo 1981) 18.) For Those About To Rock (Moscow 1991) I stuck to live tracks with Brian so not to confuse the girl with two different singers since she's new to AC/DC. The next mix I make her will be all live stuff with Bon.
Don't think you need that complication (live from allover the world).Better stick to non bootlegs for best sound quality possible, or boots from soundboards. Would suggest the AC/DC live 2 cd without any cut's (except from the thunderstruck intro). If she does not like that then don't bother. It was the first thing (after big gun) i've heard of AC/DC and i still remember singing Moneytalks in the bathroom :P P.S. Since i've said soundboards.Any soundboard recording boot on this tour?
i agree just because you're friend is new to the band, but i would recommend this for any band, i wouldnt even go for soundboard id have pro audio or nothing, but thats me, really cool idea i must say
Nice mix and representation of songs with Brian on vocals. Get the Bon live disc in her hands as soon as possible. Once she hears Bon, she'll be a fan for life.
Cool list But try to get some Bon ere stuff in there then we're talkin'.
That is a pretty good start, like acdc74 said- put some live Bon tracks on there!!!!!
I went with the live stuff so I could get as much material from the bands career into her hands with Brian on vocals. Most of the tracks are either official releases from CD or rips from DVD's (like No Bull and Circus Krone), as well as soundboard recordings. That's a pet peeve of mine, I always go for soundboard recordings with bootlegs unless it's a really, really good audience recording (like the Black Ice tracks from Frankfurt on the mix). So I just finished the third disc for her with all live stuff on it with Bon on vocals. I think a band like AC/DC is best represented by their live performance rather than their studio performance. So here it is, Freelance Music Vol. 3: 01.) It's a Long Way To the Top (Unknown 1976) 02.) Shot Down in Flames (Live in Paris) 03.) Dog Eat Dog (Live 1978) 04.) Sin City (Live in Paris) 05.) Walk All Over You (Live in Paris) 06.) Bad Boy Boogie (Live in Paris) 07.) Jailbreak (Unknown 1976) 08.) Girls Got Rhythm (Live in Paris) 09.) The Jack (Live in the Atlantic Studios) 10.) Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (Haymarket 1977) 11.) She's Got Balls (Live at Bondi Lifesaver) 12.) Rock and Roll Damnation (If You Want Blood Live) 13.) If You Want Blood (Unknown 1979) 14.) Whole Lotta Rosie (Live in Paris) 15.) TNT (Live in Paris) 16.) Highway To Hell (Live in Paris) She really liked Dirty Deeds and TNT when she heard them, so this should give her something to get her AC/DC engine running. ;-)
The Frankfurt show has a nice sound but not a console sound.I wouldn't use it.Anyhow AC/DC best performances are pre this tour.
I would say anything live from '91 is the best intro to AC/DC, which is why AC/DC Live is such a great first CD. Reason: Brian sounds great and IMO his most powerful, the boys are strong and Angus has not lost any skill, and the production is fantastic, much better in fact than the Razors Edge album.
