If Bon was still alive.
Let's suppose that Bon Scott didn't die back in 1980. What would the world be like? I figure AC/DC wouldn't be near as huge as try were. Some of today songs would still he around but with different lyrics. Brian would be living at home with his wife and kids because Gordie would have failed eventually. Ozzy Osbourne would be dead, because Bons death brought him to his sences and he quit drinking. There would be a better soundtrack for Maximum Overdrive. And a few other things. But what do you all think the world would be like?
AC/DC would have been big but they probably would of faded away,
If Bon lived, I think they still would have been a huge band. Highway To Hell was their big hit and Bon died before he could truly reap the rewards that Brian and the rest of them did as a result of that album. Yeah, Back in Black sold more copies but I believe that was in part to the media they generated as a result of Bon's death. Still a great album though (BIB). Plus, I don't think so many of their albums with Brian would have been hit or miss. I'll probably get crap for this, but Ozzy being dead would be a good thing I believe. If he had died then he and his wife wouldn't have been able to screw with Tony Iommi and Black Sabbath the way they have over the decades and Dio would still be their singer most likely (I personally prefer Dio over Ozzy in Sabbath). Then again, Tony Martin probably wouldn't have been in Sabbath either (my second favorite Sabbath singer). Who knows.
Cody: I agree but Ozzy would not be dead. Although Bon's death may have played a art in him sobering up, that single thing would not stop him from continuing his lifestyle. Also, Who Made Who wouldn't be any better with Bon. I don't see why people think Bon writing lyrics would make a song better. The lyrics may be better, but the songs would be no catchier. DD and MT: Still, Back In Black was more successful. And it wasn't more successful because of Highway To Hell. Look at FOTS after FTATR, or Powerage after LTBR. BIB was successful because it rocked, not because of HTH. And the albums would have been just as hit and miss, because as I said, the songs would still be just as catchy with Bon singing. Bon writing and singing woudl not make up for the fact that Back In Business wasn't as catchy as BIB.
Brian kept AC/DC going through the 80's. I dont picture an album like Powerage coming out in like 1985. It would be pretty interesting to see a bon album in the late 80's. At least the "bon era" ended with an amazing album. its like if the Beatles would have stayed together throughout the 70's and 80's. .......they probably would have had some shit albums.
i wonder what fly on the wall would have sounded like if phil never got kicked out....
They probably would of faded out in the early to mid 90's because bon probably would loose his voice from all his screaming.
They would probably been big because highway to hell was great and they probably would have made a great follow-up but bon probably would have lost his voice around Ballbreaker and the band would just fade-away
@suicidehummer: I never said Back in Black was "more successful" because of Highway To Hell, I said Back in Black was "In part successful" because of the media generated by Bon's death. What you read into my post and what it actually says, are two different things.
Great comments, everyone. I'm such a big fan of Bon's that I probably would have liked whatever he did, whether he stayed with AC/DC or whether he went solo, and also, regardless of the amount of success that either Bon or AC/DC had.
more than likely you're right cody, they wouldn't be as big as they are now............................they would have been much bigger & better,;-)
That's funny, nightprowler1226! I like to think that's true, as well! Bon Scott forever, eh?!!
LiveWire: Probably not too different. It still would have had shitty production and Phil probably wouldn't sound too different from Simon. Jomek: I doubt Bon would be able to keep his voice that long. Bon had been touring with them for five years before his death, so logically he would lose his voice about five years before Brian did. Plus, I think Bon has a more destructive singing style. Not to say Brian is much better though, lol. DD and MT: But I'm saying if FOTW was Brian's first album, it wouldn't have sold any more copies just because of Bon's death.
