My laptop is probably dead...
I tried to turn on my laptop (thankfully I had another computer to report the problem) and the following message came on my screen: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked. If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally. Safe Mode Safe Mode with Networking Safe Mode with Command Prompt Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked) Start Windows Normally Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice." I tried all options but they all failed and it came back to the same screen. I haven't installed anything on my laptop for the past couple of months so that's not the issue. Plus it had all my AC/DC crap on it and now I'm fucked because they might be gone forever. I bought an external hard drive a couple of days but I haven't opened it. I was gonna move stuff from the laptop onto the hard drive but I can't now so I'm pissed. Has anyone dealed with this problem before, and have you found any solution to get it fixed? Any help would be certainly appriciated!
http://www.simplehelp.net/2008/10/27/how-to-fix-the-we-apologize-for-the-inconvenience-but-windows-did-not-start-successfully-error/ Pretty good article with a few different ways to fix it. Worst case, you take out the hard drive, spend $5 on a little external enclosure for a laptop drive, and find your files that way.
Thanks and all, but sadly, I got the laptop from a friend a long time ago and he lost the installation CD. Guess I'll bury my laptop in my backyard...
Whoa hold on. Don't know anyone with an installation disk? It could be it only needs the system files. And like I said, you CAN get your stuff off the hard drive. Just need an external enclosure and another comp to plug it into.
dude you just need a live cd of an os linux or something similar. Live cd means that it doesnt install anything on your pc it just runs from the disc. When the thing starts up you can just connect your usb hard drive and copy everything. As for your problem, this kind of shit happens with windows every second year or so, what can we do, it sucks :) so you nedd to run the a live cd boot the computer with it, backup your files and install a fresh copy of windows. Cheers
Just take out your Hard Drive and connect it to another computer and format that Hard Drive, and if you have your Windows Installer CD you can use hook you HD back up to your computer, and reinstall windows, this should fix your problem.
or when the computer is loading hit F11 I think, and it will bring up a menu with an option to back up all your data then reset your computer. That worked for me before.
I know I had my laptop stop working one time, and I took it to get it fixed, spent $200 on something I could of fixed for $20
