Hey Guys the band is doing the soundtrack for iron man 2 Here is the info: http://www.amazon.com/Iron-Man-Deluxe-DVD-Package/dp/B0035WTE2U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1264518032&sr=1-3
Check out the tracklist: 15 track CD with 32 page booklet plus DVD featuring exclusive interviews, behind the scenes footage, and music videos. Tracklisting: 1. Shoot to Thrill 2. Rock 'N' Roll Damnation 3. Guns for Hire 4. Cold Hearted Man 5. Back in Black 6. Thunderstruck 7. If You Want Blood (You've Got It) 8. Evil Walks 9. T.N.T. 10. Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be 11. Have a Drink on Me 12. The Razor's Edge 13. Let There Be Rock 14. War Machine 15. Highway to Hell Surprisingly risky, considering AC/DC's track record: RnR Damnation, Cold Hearted Man, Guns for Hire, Evil Walks, Have a Drink! Way to go, guys! Now put this stuff in your setlist...
This looks a bit like a best of album to me. They should put at least one new track on the album. What do you think?
I was hoping for new stuff, too, but at least they didn't stick to superficial "hits". There's actually some deep cuts on there. I see no need for me to purchase this CD, as I have already purchased all of these songs many, many times, but it will be good for a young kid to discover AC/DC. Who Made Who was my intro to them and I guess it was just my luck that it covered enough of their back catalog for me to go exploring a bit. What I was hoping for was more instrumentals in the way of DT and Chase the Ace.
What is going on? Don't I remember the guys saying that after Maximum Overdrive they wanted to stay away from doing soundtrack work/lending their material to films??? I still love the band but this is another low point.... I bought Backtracks yesterday after waiting out since its November release and was pleased but not all that crazy about it. I found the booklet to be good (its a smaller version of the book include on the deluxe set I'd assume), and the cds/dvd are alright but patchy. After listening to it last night I noticed some difference in sound quality than on bootlegs which is good (both studio and live [Largo sounds disgusting! Why not just put that out !!!!?]) but the jump in years of material didn't make sense. To me Backtracks (Deluxe) is a money gouge. The band loves their fans, but this is truly a grab. The standard is just fine for anyone who wants these tracks in remastered form along with FJ disc 3. BT makes Bonfire look very very very good. But what message does this continue to send to the fans? Maybe by doing soundtrack work, it will get people to listen to AC/DC who haven't before? But I have no idea why the band would allow this and want to give their music for a film again. I want to think this as a greatest hits compilation but looking at at the track listing it doesn't seem so. and jeez, the video for Shoot To Thrill is kinda sucky. At least do it like in "Private Parts" where they played YSMANL in the movie live. But no, it's the studio overdubbed on live footage mixed with the film. Also, does this mean that this tour is the last? I'm thinking probably due to the fact that its been expanded over and over. I saw them in August last year and it was an amazing show. What band wouldn't want to go out on tour with a bang? When the tour finishes, if it does happen that AC/DC call it a a day it wouldn't surprise me. Still the best RNR band period. I won't be buying the IM set period. Even if the DVD has live footage, I'll download that but no way am I buying what I already have.
Same here: I will neither buy Backtracks nor the "Best Of" album. In the near future there will only be one interesting release from AC/DC... the DVD from the Buenos Aires show.
... which may end up bundled with the Iron man Greatest hits CD...
its all about the money people!!! Soundtrack my arse!! Its a greatest hits in everything but name, majority of soundtracks theres at least 1 or 2 new tracks, so much for not selling the fans what the fans alredy have Malcolm!! I've said it before and i aint been proved wrong yet, an 8yr recording absence and the market/fans clamour for a product and voila the market is saturated, here in the UK it seems every tv channel is taking to using them as a soundtrack nowadays. Gotta take your hat off to the record company tho', theyre definately on top of their game, does make you wonder where it will stop tho.................... "YOU WANT FRIES WITH THAT McAC/DC BURGER?" Dont be so quick to knock the last suggestion just yet, theres plenty of time !!!
Maybe all the money-grubbing of the last 10 years is best interpreted as a bunch of old men who want to retire very, very comfortably.
Ye, i mean, i salute them for all these years of doing stuff for us and all but please make it stop!I cannot see my favorite band f#ck me in the ass!
At least they've waited this long, fuck KISS sold out in their Heyday AC/DC haven't completely sold out...but ya know they could fuck us a lot worse than what it is now Like...Remastering Black Ice or Back In Black(again) Or Another really really poorly Constructed Box set Only time will tell what they'll do,I pray for no more Bullshit
want to now what i just realized?? the only thing that will make most hardcore fans happy is if they release like 50 past live shows on CD. Then released a black ice tour dvd...then do an album every year.....and play like 40 songs in a setlist that has songs that we all know probably wont be added to the set.
LiveWire101 I don't expect them to do all of that, not by a long shot nor do many of us,but a little something to surprise us wouldn't hurt I still love this tour thank you
Nah LiveWire101, I aint that unrealistic, just a wee modicum of spontaneity would be nice as opposed to the carbon copy gigs that are happening nowadays, but hey, they are old and at the end of the day as the accountant and the record company say......... if it aint broke, dont fix it
I'm probably not buying this, but I gotta say I loved the tracklisting. I think it's a great intro to AC/DC for the kids who don't know the band very well. And it must be great listening to it on the road! Let's just hope they add some of these songs to their live concert. Watching AC/DC perform "Evil Walks" or "Cold Hearted Man" would be a dream come true! Yeah, dream on...
