When AC/DC came to Melbourne...
Thursday Feb. 11 @ Etihad Stadium, Melbourne, Australia (The first show of the band's Australian tour) There are very many different words to describe that night. If there was such a thing as an AC/DC theme park, it would have looked like Melbourne on that night. Walking through the streets, and seeing everyone wearing their t-shirts, and every shop blaring out the likes of Riff Raff and For Those About To Rock, and arriving outside the Etihad stadium in a tram, with the rain bucketing down and the appropriate roaring of the thunder. It was Melbourne's most aggressive storm ever, but it didn't spoil the atmosphere one bit. Once inside, the air was thick with anticipation, and once the support bands had finished, the arena dimmed to black, and the fans were treated to anything and everything they could take. Everyone in the arena went nuts, and everyone who had purchased seats, including myself, stood up as soon as the tiny schoolboy ran onstage and raised his pick to the crowd. Nineteen songs later, we walked out of there with tinitis, and a new outlook on life. I personally spent the next two days of my holiday walking around with my mouth wide open, and my eyes glazed over. It was easily the greatest experience of my life. There is no band in the world, who could even come close to putting on the show that those guys put on that night. Forget techno, forget screamo... AC/DC is back, and if you don't like 'em, Bon will come to you in your sleep and punch you in the face (as written in AC/DC lane).
