Let There Be Rock: The Movie On DVD!!!
Accidentally hit enter before I put the info, lol stupid me... but Anywayz......................... From eddietrunk.com Qoute, "AC/DC are going to be releasing a special DVD of the classic concert film Let There Be Rock. I was asked to do some commentary for the DVD which I will shoot next month. Got an advance and it looks great. Also look for me in the new Metallica and Judas Priest remastered Behind The Music's. I added some new stuff at the end where they were updated." HELL FREAKIN' YES!!!!! Bon's Finally getting his Awesomeness Sealed forever on DV Freakin' D!!!!!! (Truly deserves it) I hope this is true,I really do. Here's The Link I got this from: http://www.eddietrunk.com/index.cfm/pk/view/cd/NAA/cdid/418918/pid/401816 Makes Up For Backtracks in my book, -Cheers!!!!! All the best Bon,we love ya'
In case you didn't already know,I'm pretty exited about this... "Ok,Ecstatic, lol" Strange how I can be excited over a movie I've seen many a times and are watching right now isn't it? To me though, having a version that I didn't download is way more satisfying, owning the package, opening the case it all adds to the fun and enjoyment of the deal. I'm sure it'll have great bonus features -Cheers
I hope it's true! It's like when I had to keep finding bootleg copies of the movie Heavy Metal untill they released it on dvd. Now I don't have to worry about wearing it out as quickly LMAO
I'm looking forward to this release. This concert is a masterpiece of audience communication and balls-out-rock-and-roll! I'm not sure the "bonus" features will be all that great. Ang and Mal's idea of "bonus" features is to put repeat some tracks from concert films, but show them isolated cams on the band members or toss in a lame slideshow or something. That being said, this show really does not require a whole lot of "bonuses" as it is strong enough, sonically and visually, to stand on its own. If the execs at Sony (or the band members heading into retirement) really want to turn this into a cash cow, they should bundle it with the Circus Krone 2003 DVD. I'd put down some hard-earned cash for that combo!
@RnRDamnation Well, you've got a point bout the bonus features, but I enjoyed Plug Me In's extras You're right about it being strong enough not having bonus footage as well,it really is a great show. but Imagine if they had footage from a different show of If You Want Blood and T.N.T. as bonus since they don't have it from Paris?! I doubt it,but ya know we can dream=)
Good...Now maybe all the crybabies will stop bitching because Brian Johnson told them to go fuck themselves. LET THERE BE ROCK!!!
Well, thunderdeeds, you make my point exactly by bringing up PMI's "bonus" tracks. Excepting the odd TV interview, nothing in the "bonus" portion of Plug Me In could be considered "bonus" material except for the fact they they were shuffled to the end of DVD 1 or 2 or even to DVD 3, which fans had to pay extra to see. It would have made more sense to keep, for instance, the Apollo 1978 or St. Alban's 1976 shows in running order all in one place rather than mix up the tracks and shuffle a few to the end as "bonuses". They weren't really bonuses at all, in that respect. I think it's closer to say - especially keeping in mind the deceptive practice of making a bunch of the "bonuses" available on DVD 3 - that they were more like the upsell a phone company gives you when they sign you up to a contract. "Well, you can have 200 minutes a month for $15, but if you want common things like Call Display and Call Answer, you have to pay an extra $5-$10/month." That, and idiotic, condescending marketing (also like phone and cable companies) tends to make the band look like a bunch of used-car salesmen rather than well-respected-and-admired artists and entertainers.
mind you this is coming from the same plank who thinks Brian is a Scot!?!? "Shortly after his death, AC/DC replaced Scott with another native of Scotland, Brian Johnson of the band Geordie." http://www.eddietrunk.com/index.cfm/pk/view/cd/NAA/cdid/418938/pid/400512 bright boy then!! Wonder what bells n whistles this will come with,if it does.
I don't know about how Credible this Eddie Trunk is,but him not knowing everything about the band doesn't mean he's lying. I don't use his sight, and never even heard of him until today but I hope he's right.
ok?? this is great but i wont believe it till i see it...first of al if its a re-release then we don't get the full show (the original cut to interviews and stuff) and TNT wasn't even filmed.....and i thought the tapes were lost in a fire?? and the audio........there was parts where they had to like cut and paste (bad boy boogie) because the tapes weren't in good condition for Bonfire. correct me if i am wrong...but is this release even possible?
a man who thinks along the same lines as myself then
It could be they took a "pristine" version of the VHS and remastered it. Considering the bootleg quality of much of Plug Me In (some which they could probably not do much about, such as the St. Alban's show, some of which they could probably do plenty, like Tokyo 1981 and Detroit 1983), I wouldn't put it past them to pull a stunt like that on their fans. If that is their plan, Torrents have plenty of digital rips of the VHS and fans might be better off sticking with them. However, if they somehow managed to locate the lost footage and remaster it properly, this will be one to treasure.
@LiveWire101 I know T.N.T. wasn't filmed,I never said it was I was saying what if they had footage from another show from '79 as bonus to make up for it not being there...that was all
If they do remaster it I'll get it. I'll get it either way, since I had the VHS version, and lost it.
only problem with AC/DC's record companies and remastering is that whoever is given the job seems to read "SANITIZE" where they should read "ENHANCE" Personally theres a few collectors/fans out there I would trust with the job before I would trust a record company bean-counter who just sees a product! Seems to have been the M.O. for the past few ventures in my 'umble opinion Dave
Well, AC/DC.com Is retarded (as if you didn't already know) From their This Week In AC/DC thing: "As for that "big announcement" we spoke about last week, we've been extremely busy down in Australia this week, so we've had to push that announcement to next week. Like we said, it'll be worth the wait." "That's it for another edition of The Week in... Til next week!" --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok,so another build up for nothing, they've been doing this a lot lately Gah,WTF!? If it wasn't Bon's Day I'd be pissed.... Forget it,I'm cranking up my Downloaded Let There Be Rock:The Movie -Peace
Fuckers over on that site couldnt run a bath never mind a site!!!
Eddie Trunk is kind of a tool, but he's credible enough.
Eddie Trunk doesn't really have a reason to lie about this and probably thought that it was ok before AC/DC put off the announcement 'till next week when he said it. @Big-Gun: Besides being a tool the guy couldn't even name the mascot from MegaDeth on his VH1 Classics show when asked! That's not exactly the way to gain Metal credit when he has the title of "Heavy Metal Guru".
Trunk is credible enough, he knew Mark Evans was the first AC/DC bassist when asked. I think most general metal fans couldn't come up with that name. Then again, he was a radio DJ... Anyway as for the DVD, I am hoping for the whole show in excellent quality uninterrupted, and the bonus stuff being the footage they put over the show in the VHS version (i.e. Phil driving the Porsche and whatnot), but what I expect is a slightly better quality version of the VHS with no changes. And why do you guys think TNT wasn't shot? They wouldn't film a whole show and skip one song...
the arseholes who shot the movie didnt like the tune and never bothered shooting it! theres approx10-11 hrs of film footage, and a master of the final audio mix left due to the 24 track masters being destroyed.
Dave (daclarob) is absolutely correct about the T.N.T. thing - - the moviemakers not liking the tune. I really like Eddie Trunk and respect him but since when is Mark Evans the FIRST AC/DC bassist? I watched this week's "That Metal Show" on Vh1 Classic in the U.S. and that was not the correct answer obviously. If he asked Eddie who was the bassist in the band prior to Cliff, then of course Mark Evans would have been the correct answer. However, I will give Eddie props as well for knowing Mark Evans.
Well I find that REALLY hard to believe. I'm sure Mallet didn't like EVERY song they played at Donnington, but he shot every song. To skip a song just because you don't like it is not only selfish and childish, but stupid from a director's standpoint.
suicide please write something cuz you have 666 post an your aura is burning me :P (and am at 661 and i start to spit blood etc etc) Anyway if they release LTBR and it's the exact same VHS movie without anything new, i won't complain this time cuz LTBR is my favorite live movie ever. But we had to wait for something that must have been released 10-15 years ago? And i really believe that they are releasing something good by pure accident.I mean if they had to choose between early show i'm sure they would have chosen the worst."Fortunately" there aint many pro-shoot shows back then.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0228011/#productionX20manager1980 Spielberg he aint, and by hhis own admission,"We hadn't done much at all,So we bluffed and told him(Peter Mensch)that all the films we'd done were overseas and the only thing we had left at that timewas a short clip on (French band)Bijou. Film makers Dionysius and Mistler originally intended just to make a promo vid. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0539950/ David Mallet conversely has been in the industry since the late 60's, ergo he is a pro who knows what is required for any given job, as opposed to what would appear to be a couple of "chancers" who blagged a prime assignment and managed to treat it as a filmmaking 101 piece of coursework! Bottom lineis ,their luck was in and they done not a bad job considering, but you gotta wonder, could anybody with a modicum of ability and a bit of appreciation for the subject,i.e. research, have done a better job? In this day and age, given the technology and abilities of bootleggers today,I would say probably, if the kit and the crews we have nowadays were available then. LTBR The Movie? A great historical document of the band and IMHO, the bands 1st officially released bootleg video.
