Sept 1 1979 Nurnburg
Man it was a hot summer's day in Nurnberg, Me and three buddy's each popped a pyramid shaped purple microdot about a half hour before we entered the stadium in the morning, right when we got to the entrance we all started to peak. The stadium security told thousands of fans no glass bottles, So they all downed what they could and tossed the bottles all over the asphalt ground so when we got to the entrance we had to walk through a 100 foot obsticle course of sharp broken beer bottles then we had to climb over a barb wire fence because the crowd was surging at the too small entrance gates. Once inside it was fucking great, hot sun, sweet Morrocan hash smell in the air, sound system was hugeas house and kick ass, I noticed a cute blond chick in the back bleachers, 18 straight blond hair, face like an angle, hot body in a white tank top, red hot pants and cowboy boots... WOW ! Next thing I remember was Molly Hatchet on stage, They sounded really powerful. Two G.I's were walking around holding up a home made banner wrote in big red letters "SHOW ME YOUR TITS" I watched them walk through for a few minutes and got quite a nice side show of pre-silicone era tits. AC DC was still pretty new and a 4th billing on the event so they played early in the afternoon and really impressed the crowd with a hard powerful rocking beat, the concert bootleg recordings I have heard on youtube do not do them justice. The set was only about a hour long and they were off too soon. The concert included a really good set by Cheap Trick, this was my second time seeing them once before they opened for Kiss in 1976's Destroyer tour. I worked my way up to the stage late in the afternoon to get a close up, They were much more polished on stage, I loved the Rick Neilson's falling guitar on the stairs trick,Cheap trick left the stage right at dusk, The Who's laser lights lit the night sky in a huge 1,000 ft tall pyramid over the stadium, Beautiful ! The organ started, the crowd surged the stage, "30,000 people surged forward in a just a few seconds. I weighed about 190 pounds and was picked up off my feet a few inches above the ground and shoved about 50 feet forward and 30 feet to my left like a knight in a human chess game, I could feel people below me getting stepped and trampled on by the rushing crowd , it was really really scary for everyone up front by the stage, I am sure many people got hurt bad in the rush. That scare really sobered me up, I felt sick about stepping on downed fans and retreated to the back of the stadium and enjoyed the rest of the Who's show with my good friends on a warm summer night I will never forget.
