i whant to read about the verry first time you heard AC/DC, doesnt matter if you diddnt know who it was, i just think id be cool to hear all diferent stories, mine was when i was at my grand parents house in 2006 and he was watching telefutura (mexican channel) and there was an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie called "the last action heroe" and it had a kickass title song and they kept repeating "BIG GUN!!!! da dada da da da" (da= guitar playing) i saw the credits and it said the song was by "AC/DC" then the next day in on demand i saw a music video called highway to hell, by... AC/DC, i whent to wall mart, i bought the disc, then i kept buying, now i just need 9 more studio albulms to have the full collection, its been 4 years since i found AC/DC and by the end of year one, i knew all most AC/DC history and facts, and THEY WERE ALL I LISTENED TO!!!!!!!!!! and i still listen to them more than any other music. (sorry for the lengthyness) now, if you whant, share your storie. or comment mine (*hint hint*)
My mom got the acdc live: collector's edition cd and always listened to thunderstruck in the car. Then i saw live at donnington at walmart and i thought it was the same thing so i bought it and have been hooked ever since.
When I was age 12 in school(1980) I was wondering that on some of the desks were always the letters AC BLITZ DC as well as a crucifix with the name Bon Scott and 19.02.1980 and I understood nothing or had an idea what it means until I was visiting my schoolmate and he knew the answer right out of his sister´s cassetteplayer- High Voltage - that was the first time I heard, realized AC/DC. It took me than nearly a year to be allowed to go to schooldisco but there I felt really in love- the next levels were TNT/Touch Too Much and Hells Bells, the chartbreaker... Really funny was - in that time I didn´t realized any differences who sang- Brian Johnson or Bon Scott-it was just their energy.
I was at a record store looking for something to blow a gift card on and I saw the AC/DC section and remembered that was a band my friend liked so I looked at some of the CDs and was surprised that I knew a lot of their songs but not who wrote them. AC/DC Live had the most songs I knew so that was my first CD. I still have it too, but the case is worn out.
It was in 1980, I was 14 years old and have shared a room with my brother. He has bought BACK in BLACK. After a few days he hate himself for this decision because I have played the record 24 hours a day ;-)
My folks were listening to the American "High Voltage" LP a lot in 1977. I was 9 at the time and I started remembering the songs "It's a Long Way to the Top" and "T.N.T." I couldn't stop listening to the LP. My parents were proud of me and they took me to see AC/DC in Spokane the next year. I didn't really get into collecting AC/DC until after high school, and I've been doing so ever since. That's my origin of liking AC/DC in the first place ;)
I was looking through my dads old LP's and came across If You Want Blood, I put it on the turntable, and I was blown away when Angus started playing the first chords of Riff Raff, simply amazing
I accidently clicked on Back In Black live No Bull, i saw angus running around during the solo and i was blown away i immediatly downloaded that song and a few others, i loved them all and from then on I've been hooked.
When I was 7 years old, I was in the car with my mom and TNT came on the radio. She turned it up as loud as she fucking could. I asked her "Mom, who is this?" She says, "AC/DC!!" EVer since then, AC/DC has changed my life forever! LONG LIVE AC/DC!!!!!!
It was back in 1979 and i remember looking at albums in a store and i saw the cover of Highway To Hell and Angus with his horns and tail just blew me away. I thought i'd give it a listen and when i did i was hooked for life. Then shortly after i bought there entire back catalogue and really fell in love with them and to this day it's all i listen to and never tire of it....till the day i die !!!
1981 my dad got the Dirty Deeds LP when it was finally released here in America. I was 6 years old. But it wasn't until around 1986 when i started getting into heavy metal 'n shit that i sort of re-discovered them with the Fly on the wall and Who Made Who LP's. From then on i saved the $2 per week allowance my mom gave me and proceeded to buy their whole doscography on tape and vinyl. It took about a year to get them all. The first new album i ever bought was Blow up your video. I remember seeing the Heatseeker promo video and being blown away! So i guess i can say i'm a fan since 1981 but really seriously since 1986. My first show was in september 1988 in Quebec City (with Simon Wright on drums and Stevie Wright on rhythm guitar). The rest is history
Great thread! In 1988, I traded a Dwight gooden rookie card for Fly on the Wall, Back in Black, and GNR Appetite for Destruction (all on cassette tape). I went home and popped FOTW into my yellow Sony water-resistant walkman. The tape was playing the chorus to Back in Business and I thought "This is the greatest thing I have ever heard in my entire life." Then, like Dean, I proceeded to save my allowance to collect the whole back catalog. I remember having to hide Highway to Hell from my parents because of that "Heavy Metal is all satanic" special that Geraldo Rivera did. They believed that crap.
1986, I was 14 years old, I was lying in bed with influenca. My younger brother came back from school and put a tape in his recorder. "rährährährährähräääääh..." What the hell I thinked, stop this f***cking riot I said. Two days later, healthy, I was hooked for AC/DC! Thank you brother for playing "Riff Raff" in the right moment!!! Cheers.
