Opening Acts for AC/DC
O.K. Maybe not the best place to ask but does anyone have a list of bands that has opened/toured with AC/DC. Great Boots of the warm up act? Very scary place for a band knowing that they are going to get blown off the stage but I'm sure it takes balls to do it. I'm interested in resent and past tours. I saw the Answer in 2008. I thought they were pretty good. Just looking to get into more bands that have graced the same stage. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Probably not bootlegs of the same show. I know some do exist but I'm not interested in them. For the Australian leg, we had 'Calling all Cars' and 'Wolfmother' play. Wolfmother's material is readily available, but Calling all Cars really sucked. Also I know 'The Living End' were their support act, another Australian band that's supported them on the Stiff Upper Lip tour in Australia. They are popular here, not sure elsewhere. Also I know Slash's Snake-pit supported them on the US leg of the Stiff Upper Lip tour. That's all I know of the top of my head. I'm not fond of any of the support acts, even though I was glad to finally see Wolfmother play live. Goodluck however!
1980-1982 Whitesnake? 1983 - Fastaway 1986 Queensryhce, and a couple others (maybe quiet riot?) 1988 - Dokken 1990-1991- LA Guns 1996 The poor 2000-2001 see ^^^^^^ 2003 ? 2008-2010 - The Answer, wolfmother, Anvil
Slash's Snakepit opened in 2001 in North America, I believe.
As is evidenced by Danger101's list, AC/DC rarely select anyone of any strength or talent to open for them. I'm not sure if it's out of fear or lack of balls or if they decided to go the George Carlin route and select someone really lame and hacky to open for them because it will show the fans just how original and awesome they are when they do hit the stage. Exceptions to the above rule seem to be: GNR (late 80s) and Wolfmother, although Queensryche weren't too bad, either.
i heard Korn opened for them in 1996 in new jersey? or maybe philly
Slash's Snakepit opened for the 2000 US leg of the tour, then Wide Mouth Mason opened for the 2nd US leg in 2001. I'm not sure if they went overseas with AC/DC or not.
