If I remember rightly someone replied to that post saying that BATB was only played once in the uk May 27, 1978 Market Hall Carlisle, England and then dropped from the setlist. Also it was stated that this gig was never recorded, unless someone has a tape of the gig but forgot they recorded it cos they were to smashed to remember.

DirtyEye was the one who said he would have it soon. Check with him, but I doubt he has it.

Sorry if this is too late to reply, but did anyone ever check with DirtyEye?

Fink yer pushin' it looking for a song that at the earliest Vanda & Young sessions for 'Highway...', (Jan '79, aprrox 8 months after the May '78 gig), was still only provisionally named 'Back Seat Confidential'. I could see a version from May '79 but i'd doubt the '78 claim. Sounds a wee bit too early even by da mighty 'DC's standards. Bearing in mind they'd just released Powerage in the U.K. only 22 days earlier, i think judging by other setlists they'd be plugging the new songs rather than a half formed song which 'Back Seat/ Beating..', could only have been at that time. Don't wanna sound like a dick about it, but it's a big claim guys..... peace ;-)

Well it was played and it does exist. It's only a matter of time before it comes out.

And on that day you'll get a grovelling apology dude, but all the 'DC nuts i talk with think the idea seems ludicrous and ill-informed. Think about it bro, they've just finished Powerage, why would they play 'Beatin' Around The Bush'? You'd be hard pressed for a finished version in '79 never mind '78. Even if the version from 'Bonfire' is from the Summer '77 sessions, it's still not called 'Beatin..' and it didn't make 'Powerage'. Peace man, hope you get your tape....

Hey man don't ask me when they wrote and recorded what songs. I'm not AC/DC and besides they may have already had the song written and were mucking around with it for a while before it made it to an album. All I know is that they played the somg on the night and it WAS recorded.

O.K. I agree that the song could have been recorded earlier, i'm just sayin' it doesn't make sense 'cause of the aforementioned time frame with Powerage and the subsequent tour (where by all available sources/tapes/gigs they never vary from set unless to play stuff from Powerage). I'd seriously love to be proven wrong, a version of BATB from 1978? Hell yeah! Bring it on! BUT.......common sense gets the better of me and lack of proof from elsewhere makes me think so too. Imo, i think it's mis-information or just plain wrong, unless you yourself or anyone else for that matter have sources that know better? Can anyone confirm or debunk? We need a little help, please.
