Well the production sounds great as does the directing, but Brian sounds like shit to be honest.
I don't think Brian sounds like shit... Sounds pretty good, not very powerful, but good
AC/DC have never sounded less dangerous that in that video. It seems like they edited out some of the ending, too. When I saw them, there was a lot more interplay between Brian and Angus leading up to the "I'm going doooooowwwwnnnn". In this video, there's a sudden cut to "c'mon, c'mon all the waaayyy". Did they think the extra 10-15 seconds of actual musical communication would be offensive to someone somehow or was this performance at this show actually this short and generic?
Brian sounds great, I think you need to stop comparing him to the 80's, 90's Brian AMAZING crowd
Hopefully they've mixed the crowd into the Buenos Aires DVD. It seems like they're more exciting than the music itself. Just to clarify: While others may have been comparing Brian's vocals to the 80s and 90s, I too find that unfair and think he deserves credit. What I am doing, however, is comparing the band's performance of the song to the 70s, 80s and 90s and you have to admit, this performance makes Donington 91 (a safe, but fun, performance by any standards) seem positively anarchic, nevermind bringing up Towson 79 ("I'd just like to tell all the security up front here to fuck off!") or any other show from the Bon Scott era ("Gonnnnorrrrrhhhhhhhheeeeaaaaa!"). And from that perspective, this is the safest performance of Highway to Hell I have ever heard. There is no risk, no edge, nothing dangerous, nothing beyond the pale of the basic chordings, lyrics and solos of the song. I know many people have complained about Glee's recent rendition of Highway to Hell and Celine Dion's version of "You Shook Me All Night Long", but can anyone explain to me how those versions are any less safe than what we are hearing above? I didn't think so. Re: Glee and Celine Dion - Let the gay panic and raging sexism begin.
I don't believe I said "Brian doesn't sound as good as he did twenty years ago" That would be obvious. I was saying that he does not sound good in this video (compared to other performances on this tour). His voice sounds weak next to the guitars, more so than usual.
