Question about Brian's autobiography
Anybody know when "Rockers and Rollers" will be available in the U.S.?
I don't know. I would suggest eBay. Quite a good book and it has short chapters which I liked because I could read it on the toilet easily! Had me laughing out loud a couple of times.
I would have bought it five years ago but I really don't have the same respect for Brian after this tour.
@suicidehummer Why don't you have the same respect for him?
^The Fuck'em Thing Most Likely, I was bothered by it at first as well, but then I thought about it. There's really 2 ways to look at it, From Brian's point of view it's someone telling him how to do his job that he's been doing for 30 years,so he basically meant, (Fuck You I Think We Know What We're Doin') From our point of view it's the band playing the same old same old, ripping off fans who've seen them more than once this tour and would like to hear something lesser known to the masses. and the fuck'em incident made us think they don't care what so ever about the real fans. I disagree and agree with both arguments a bit, We didn't mean for Brian to take the set change thing that way,but I think he felt insulted by it. I still think Brian's awesome,30 years without being negative with us I think one slip up is allowed.C'mon you think he really meant it? I also believe the band's switching to Sony is a big reason why they've "sold out" Black Ice/Wal-Mart deal started it Followed by Backtracks not being as rare as it should have been Then Iron Man 2 whoring the band out like a 2.00 tramp Long story short, FUCK YOU SONY AC/DC have been exploited out the ass soon to be (close to it now) AC$DC The band have some say in it,but mostly the record company is in charge. Rant Over
@flickofthethunderdeeds Yeah I agree with you. I think he would have taken it the "I have been doing this job for 30 years" way, but in the public eye I can't believe he would have said that, because he seems like such a good bloke. I have brought the Iron Man 2 CD/DVD and I must agree, the DVD is pretty shit apart from the new videos and the rest are videos I already had. They could have done something better than that, but seeing it wasn't fan orientated and they were just trying to do it to another audience then us, I suppose it could be Ok, but still, they have sold out.
I don't think ACDC has sold out, i think Sony has sold them out (from the point of view of someone who has known acdc for some time)but from their point of view, it's been 8years since ACDC has released an album which is a huge time frame for somebody to start liking ACDC and they get the new album or go to a concert and want to here more of ACDC, so Sony came out with Backtracks and the Iron Man 2 album.
I would go for ebay to get his book, I really enjoyed it and some of the stories about Cliff makes me want him to do one so I can hear some of the stuff he did.
Whoa whoa whoa. What's this "fuck 'em" incident?? I guess I missed something here. What happened?
A group of fans (maybe jus one, idk) sent a letter to ACDC asking to make a setlist change and Brian said fuck 'em.
the forum acdcfans.net posted a letter to the band regarding the set list. In it, they explained their point of view and gave reasons why they thought the set list should be changed. Read the article here. Eventually, the band got wind of it and Brian basically gave his reasons for the set list staying the same and said, and I quote: "They don't eat, sleep and shit AC/DC like we do. Fuck them!"
I read Brian's response on another site and it didn't have half of the stuff he said like: "We're not daft. We realize the fans like the old songs. But boy, it ticks me off when people start petitions. We're not a political party, we're just a rock'n'roll band out for a bit of fun." It just had the "fuck them" and the "they don't realize that changing a setlist..." parts.
Old songs? Maybe he was pissed because he thought that they meant them to play Bon Scott songs :) Anyway i've read a long time ago the article and expressed my opinion here. What the have done since now shows me what i was thinking all along for a year now. They are earning their retirement $$$ . the sooner the better.
you're an a***le "sapator". Sorry, but not everybody has enjoyed AC/DC over the time like you and give a **** if their retire now or in 5 years. "-Yeah, these old people didn't change their setlist on the show in this city I've never heard of, it's clear that all they want to do is make more money by not change their songs. I've only been to 1 show in the lats 15 years, tho"
Thanks for pointing out the obvious (that i'm an..Artcile?Admissible?Abominable?Amiable?Audible?..Ah... Asshole? :P ) For your info my first concert was in SUL tour.I haven't been to so many concerts ;) Also i saw them outside Greece and i also have a ticket for Stade de france and was planing to see them but at this point i prefer to keep the money. "all they want to do is make more money by not change their songs" Kid, you don't have a clue what we are talking the past year do you?Setlist change is the bottom of the barrel. Yes i prefer for them to retire ASAP before Sony make them do more pitiful things so they can spoil their good name some more.In i way i care more for their after-fame, rather than seen them again. If that's my crime then i can live with that.
It really isn't the money thing, I was just pissed with you because you said about their retirement "the sooner the better" when I completly think the opposite. What we should think is that AC/DC will come up and do the right thing, not think they will ruin their name once again (being that Sony's fault) You saw them 3 times, IMO that's a lot for 2 tours. I only got the chance to see them once, and I had to ask for money to buy it, because I only had half of it. Ihope AC/DC goes on with the good rock n roll they had a couple of years ago
"Ihope AC/DC goes on with the good rock n roll they had a couple of years ago" . Me to but i highly doubt it. Also since i have seen them back in 2000-2001 i was bound to compare them. What i saw now was an ok band. What i show back then was the best lives i've seen in my life. They are getting old. They still play well but i can honestly say it's just 60% of the SUL tour. Anyway that's a very small portion on why i want them to retire. BTW everyone here talks about Greece financial problem and compare them to Argentina's.Are you really that poor as they are presenting you?
the Argentina financial problem was in 2001, we had some mother*/$##& presidents (we still do) who fucked up everything. I can't remember very much because I was 7, but the thing was that Banks broke, and kept people's money (I think) There was violence also, just like it's happening to you now...,what a shame. Argentina is a very rich country in resources, but the high social classes fill their pockets instead of the people's hunger. And about AC/DC, what band these days sound as awesome as them?? Nobody my friend, nobody
Well if they continue here i think we will hang them :) Anyway, yes DC are the best but their standards have fallen much. Some bands that i think are still awesome are Motorhead,Saxon,Judas Priest and i much enjoyed Blue Oyster Cult. I can't say about Maiden or Metallica$h cuz i've never been to a concert of them and never will...
