what ever happened to moments like these..
i know i'm beat'n an old horse, but really now, if you look here and watch this video this is them actually BEING a band. it kills me to see them doing the same act over and over and over now :/
By that argument, acdcrocks, AC/DC have very rarely been a band for almost 30 years now. I know I'm beating a dead horse, too, but they basically say it themselves: AC/DC are not artists, they're entertainers and their McShow delivers every time (if predictable and boring).
they should have played that which ever gig was closest to Bons anniversary, and said actually said "this is for Bon", would have been good to have seen
"they should have played that which ever gig was closest to Bons anniversary, and said actually said "this is for Bon", would have been good to have seen" What - are you saying a few screenshots of Bon from the Let There Be Rock video set to High Voltage (and removed as soon as the band returned to America) wasn't "tribute" or "special" enough? Pshaw, I say, and go fuck yourself for good measure (isn't that what Brian would say?)... [muttering under breath] Fat assed intertubers, smiling at the concerts, then complaining online...
I don't know if they have rarely being a band in these 30 years but that show was the best i have been into in my entire pathetic little life. And they were 101% authentic on what they did. + Best sound ever.WTF happened to the sound at the 2009-10 concerts?
Was this on Bon's birthday? I notice at the end of Hells Bells he sings "Happy Birthday". I believe it was a tribute to the bonny Scot?
RNRDamnation is unfortunately right, they're not artists. If they actually took themselves seriously and treated it like art, I think they could do some great stuff, but that's just another example of what was wrong with Black Ice.
So an artist can be an entertainer but an entertainer sometimes cannot be an artist? True, true but an aspect of an artist can be acting. So if you are a bad actor you're basically at point zero again. Man these are heavy stuff :P
AC/DC are predictable but not boring. Never boring. We've been having this argument about if it as turned out boring, and everyone says no (on the argentinian forum)
It seems now days the band seem more insecure, like they don't wanna change it because they think they can't pull it off. They're AC Fucking DC!!!! They could do anything, but they wont, which sucks for us.Still gotta hand it to them, they still sound great live though, even if it's the same show every night.
"It seems now days the band seem more insecure, like they don't wanna change it because they think they can't pull it off." Agreed, thunderdeeds, although I'm surprised to read this coming from you after your swipes at me for making fun of them for not working Sin City into the setlist for Vegas. Where is the confidence, where is the swagger, where is the ROCK AND ROLL? You listen to Towson 79, Glasgow 78, BBC 77, even back to their starting days and there is a band with swagger, a band with nothing to lose!!! Now, they're afraid to risk anything... Now the only place I can find RnR swagger is through the music of Gogol Bordello and their insane, fucked-up, highly intelligent and hilarious frontman: I swear, this guy is the Ukrainian reincarnation of Bon!!! As for AC/DC, all I have to say is, "Take a chance, while you still got a choice" and it's not BS that walks, but BULLSHIT!!!!
I don't know RnRDamnation, it seems like they had a pretty generic setlist with Bon as well. I mean, the only reason the setlist varied as much as it did was because they released a new album every year while he was in the band. Plus, none of the album tracks transitioned from tour to tour. They kept all the "hits" from High Voltage (TNT, High Voltage, etc.) and Let There Be Rock (LTBR, Rosie, etc.), but nothing from Powerage except Sin City (the album's most popular track) made it in the Highway to Hell Tour. They only played half the songs from Highway to Hell (mostly the singles). And they played what, three songs from Dirty Deeds ever? I agree that Bon had a charisma and swagger that Brian could never match, but as for taking risks with the setlist, I think both eras are guilty of not doing that.
You're almost 3 years on tour and you play the same. It's lame the least. Anyway i don't know why we still talk about it.Apparently nothing is going to change.
Where's the confidence? Where's the swagger? Where's the Rock and Roll? At least with Bon it was about the music; now it seems to be about the gimmicks...
Sapator, what do you mean "almost 3 years on tour"? The tour started in October 2008 when Black Ice came out. It's not even October 2010 yet, so it hasn't even been 2 years. On a more related note, can anyone actually tell me the story behind the band playing Ride On in this performance? And also, why were they wearing the football uniforms?
