Dirty Deeds Cover Art (International release)
Dirty Deeds has always been my favourite AC/DC Album. I love the rawness & demo type quality of the material. I also love the humour and at times, sleaziness in a few of the tracks (Squealer, Love at first feel etc..). I also love the cover, as it doesn't conform to using rock cliches like a band's typeface/logo (although the AC/DC lettering is fantastic!). I've often wondered where the location of the motel is (on the international LP cover). As this is the front cover of the international version, and the American spelling of 'color' is on the sign, and the pailm trees, i'm suspecting the shot was taken in LA or another location in California. Does anyone know exactly where? And does it still exist? Many thanks.
I wouldn't mind knowing that myself, actually
I doubt it would be in L.A. they hadn't even hit the U.S. at that point. It's pobably somewhere in Australia.
The International release wasn't out until 1981. It would have to be somewhere in the US because as the original poster said, colour, is spelled the American way. (I choose to spell it the CORRECT way! HA!)
Oh I thought the covers were the same. Well I have no idea where it's at.
that will be why the intl release was available everywhere apart from the US, UNTIL 1981 then huh? This is the other compilation album in 1976 from AC/DC UK & Europe- Atlantic label NOVEMBER 1976 SADLY FOR THE US SOME PLANK @ ATLANTIC DIDNT THINK DDDDC WAS COMMERCIAL ENOUGH FOR THE US MARKET (AND POSSIBLY TOO RISQUE? GIVEN THE CONSERVATISM OF SOME SECTORS OF THE US)AND IT WAS SHELVED,THUS CAUSING YOUR CHARTS TO BE FLOODED WITH DC PRODUCT AFTER THE SUCCESS OF BIB. be well people, as for the cover, who cares the band didnt like it,ergo we can safely assume it was Atlantic giving the commisssion to Hipgnosis and them coming back with some non descript "moody" cover. for my money they shoulda left the bloody Alberts cover as the international release, but hey what do I know
Umm, source please? When did they say they didn't like the cover? Bon was going for Humphrey Bogart-esque lyrics and the int'l cover reflects that.
