Poll For The Next Album's Direction
Ok,with the Black Ice Tour winding down to an end what do you want the next album's production to sound like? _______________________________________________________ A) Black Ice B) Powerage C) Stiff Upper Lip D) Ball Breaker E) The Razors Edge F) ???Surpise Me??? G) Mutt Lange ________________________________________________________ I think I'd Go With G, because Mutt Always brings the best out of who Produces. His Guitar sound with Band was always strong and had plenty of power, the drums had the right sound, the vocals have the perfect mix. Everything sounds perfect. If AC/DC ever release another album,it is no doubt the last one,I'm certain. So why not go out with an excellent Mutt Lange collaboration?
I agree, mutt lange does do a verry good job, i would prefer it if he helped make the next album, but I cant help but think that the next album will be a verry big surprise. i myself would prefer if the album sounded like it was made in a garage like fly on the wall, but HD has sadly ruined the chances of that. but call me inocent, i still thinnk there will be a 99.9% chance I will like the next album, why... its AC/DC thats why, they know what theyr doing. RIDE ON.
D or G. Either one is a good choice. Neither will happen though.
Sadly yes... More than likely it's gonna be A or F Brendan 'O Brian or A New Producer
B, D, E, G, Thos are my choices for a good AC/DC album. But yeah as like suicide and flick already said. Never will happen.
I'd say "B" would be possible. Something with some slower blues jams (Down Payment Blues, What's Next..., Gone Shootin') and Chuck Berry-style rock and roll (RnR Damnation, Up To My Neck...) is perfect for Brian's voice at this point in time. Anything Lange did (Back in Black, FTATR) with Brian back then would be hard to match.
A few words: They should look to the future instead of trying to replicate the past. They should not try to "sound like AC/DC", but they should instead just "be AC/DC". If they feel they're taking too much of a risk in exploring a musical or lyrical path, then they should continue down that path even if - especially if - it scares the hell out of them. If they feel they are writing something which is "very AC/DC" and will be "widely accepted by who we think our fans are", they should toss it in the scrap heap and start all over again. They should embrace the digital age and toss their record company. If they're only going to play "singles" and "hits" live, then they shouldn't even bother writing a whole "album". If they truly want their songs to connect with their audiences, they should introduce new songs into a setlist and figure out why, or why not, they receive a positive response from their audience. Basically - write on the road and write honestly, not for a target market...
@RnRDamnation Wise words there. Personally I think that BI wasnīt that good enough in our eyes, because we expected something huge from them. Well 8 years were a long time. But I wonder if they really do another album, wouldnīt we expect that much again? I would wait till itīs out and then decide if itīs good or bad. And I guess they did that tour with only there hits, becaus ethey had a feeling they were gone too long. Everything could be possible to imagine. But if they really do a new album, then I am totally going unexpected on it. Sure BI lacked on the less of more hits then fillers. But then again I wonder, how the other 15 songs would have sounded like, when they were released atleast.
lol, RNRDamnation... "If they're only going to play "singles" and "hits" live, then they shouldn't even bother writing a whole "album"." Actually a good point, as well as funny. Anyway we all know we'll never hear anything like Powerage again because it was their absolute peak as musicians. Sure BIB and HTH had hits, but Powerage was their most musically satisfying album and we all know it. Gimme a Bullet having no solo, the gritty, no BS Down Payment Blues, the whole album's smart and true lyrics, and of course Riff Raff with the extended instrumental breaks. I'm a Brian fan but God I love that album.
Oh yes, how could I forget Bon's intro to Kicked in the Teeth? That's what AC/DC is. And that's why BI is a sad parody of AC/DC.
Black Ice wasn't tough enough. They need an album, with Brian On Lyrics and No Guitar Rig Computer Shit. All Marshall Power Analog Recording Studio and A Fan Producer.Someone who cares enough to push them to their limits and it still be and sound like AC/DC. C'mon guys,I know you got it in there some where, Go find your testosterone!!!
Is it possible it could be their greatest hits album?
IDK about a fan for a producer, Flick. Bruce Fairbairn (however you spell that) was a fan yet TRE was way too clean and the drums were too sharp.
I thought Fairbaine(idk how to spell it either) I thought Fairbaine's production was great,it was mean, clean and grittty. Just heavy enough to work for "DC's sound. With Phil on the kit,I believe he could make a great new album with them. (If he was still with us, R.I.P. Bruce) Rick Rubin' would be good to have back too imo.
I like Rubin's work. Ballbreaker had amazing drum sound and really brought Mal's Gretsch into the forefront. Not to mention Big Gun was excellent as well. I always felt TRE was so clean it was almost like they just used the master tracks, and never mastered them. Plus, Slade's style is harsh enough, and Bruce made him very bright and trebley. The production works for songs like Moneytalks, but it certainly isn't classic AC/DC. Ballbreaker really brought them back to a classic sound.
I kinda agree on the sounding like it wasn't mastered part, When I listed to Thunderstruck and The Razors Edge on Iron Man 2,they have a better sound imo. The drums sound much better, and the songs as a whole have a better "balance" I guess. Those 2 and Guns For Hire have never sounded better than they do on that album.
