Wow, this thing just keeps getting better. I woke up about 40 minutes after UPS dropped it at the door (on a busy street...) and the first thing I noticed was that it wasn't in the original hardshell case they promised. It was in a carboard box with "Epiphone" inked on the outside. However, it was packed well enough so I wasn't worried. So it's a 2007 Custom Shop Oxblood '62 Reissue SG VOS. I tried it out and wasn't crazy for it at first. The strings were too thick and the action was high. So I dropped the action, intonated it, cleaned it down and put on some .010 gauge strings. Now it's exactly what I was hoping for. I would say it easily plays as well as, if not better than, a real 1963 SG I tried. I love the Oxblood finish. It's extremely close to Ebony, so much so that I'm still debating whether it really is just Ebony, haha. I tried to capture it in the pics but it's not easy. It looks almost exactly like the SG Angus used at Donnington. Also, the VOS treatment is amazing. The finish is so smooth (and it smells nice too). It's amazing how some light pitting and fake aging really make it feel like a 40+ year old instrument. And now for the feature presentation:
Look at those horns... (Note the curtains reflecting in the finish are purple). Some of the polepiece screws were low, which I fixed. Before: After:
Overall, I'd say it was a helluva buy for $1440.

Wow, nice. I want one but I really can't afford one right now :( P.S, Why does it say Les Paul instead of SG on the head?

Nice SG! Hopefully it plays as good as mine. (That's my '61 reissue in my profile pic. Bought it new in '03). Enjoy it! Jailbreakes: It has Les Paul on it because when the SG was introduced it was actually introduced as the Les Paul/SG.

Jailbreakes: Because it's a 1962 Reissue and in '62 it was still called the Les Paul (the SG is technically the 1961 redesign of the Les Paul). They started calling them SGs in 1963 when Les Paul decided he didn't want his name on them anymore.
