Here's some more info about the company who sued Nate: http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/07/copyright-trolling-for-dollars/ Apparently they exist solely to troll for, and profit from, copyright claims.

Will repeat this in the next newsletter with some more details, but here's what's happened: - I reached a settlement agreement with Righthaven and have paid it. I'm not allowed to say how much due to the terms of the settlement, but it is much more than I pay for a year of hosting so it stings the pocketbook. - I've read a lot from both sides of the lawsuit, and have determined that I'm either ignorant, stupid or both. - I'm able to keep the domain & site, but unfortunately this lawsuit will result in many changes. While I didn't intend to break any laws when I started this site, it appears I have broken some over the years and can not risk the chance of another lawsuit. I need to be more responsible to my wife & kids and that means cutting back the 'questionable' content on the site. I'm still trying to figure out what will stay and what will go, but it all comes down to trying to avoid any further legal problems that would force me to pull the site permanently. I hope you all understand. I'll have the full list of what will be cut in the next newsletter. Again, thank you for all of your support over the past month or so. It has made a challenging time in my life tolerable.

I feel somewhat responsible, too, Nate as I always had the question in my mind about you displaying the complete article rather than a snippet with a link (which is how I always displayed any articles I found). I really should have followed up with you and opened up the dialogue based on my understanding of fair use on the Internet. All the same, this company exists as a for-profit entrapment vulture of sorts as basically admitted in the Wired article I linked to and I hope they experience their fair share of karma over the rest of their lifetime.

You're more than welcome to move your site in Europe and especially Greece. Here, if something like that would have happened, i would have just loaned you a baseball bat and we would have gone to "pay" your lawsuit (that no Greek institution would have consider it legit) right away ;) P.S. Tons and tons of fun when reading the responses for US "lawsuits" in the Swedish(?) torrent site piratebay :)

Yeah the US Judicial system is beyond fucked up. But at the same time, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Me too.The sea and the beach is great ;) And (with this summer exception) we tend to forget how a cloud looks like at summer.
