Wow. What a piece of shit. He got a FREE GUITAR and is now attempting to sell it for over twice what it's worth? It's just an SG Standard (sells for about $1200 new) with some ugly graphics that ruin it. I wouldn't pay $400 for it.

I think he is doing the right thing. The paint will definitely fade away if you sweat on it so it's better to give it away fresh and there will always be some poor DC fan to get it.

Plus with 3000 he can get a better guitar.

The right thing? He's trying to rip off some poor sap (probably some dumb kid). And I assume they clearcoated it Sap. It would be dumb just to paint it.

Well clearcoat or not if you sweat it you will smudge it .I keep treating my SG with polishing but eventually it gets a little blur. Anyhow,my post was kinda sarcastic but if you had a "special" guitar by accident wouldn't you try to sell it as much as possible?Or you would have been a good Samaritan? I don't think it will be his fault if a misleaded rich kid will bust his fathers balls so he can have it for 3000. .......Ok i'm just messing with ya but it can happen many times. I can p.e. put some rare cd's on sale and if their value is 50$ i decide to start the auction at 1000$. Which fault is it if somebody does buy the cd?I won't personally do it because i'm not a bastard but some sellers on ebay do this (and i report them on ebay immediately). So to answer your question the fault is...Neither.The fault is on ebay.

It does say something about the seller though (unless he desperately needs the money). Who would sell a custom-made guitar like that? You're the one person in the world that got it (I assume) and then you want to sell it? Fuck no!!

... no it won't. If you sprayed a clearcoat over it, it could not smudge unless you somehow wore through the coat of clear paint. Not likely. And I would leave the "blurring" alone because the guitar is simply aging. If you look at those ridiculously expensive '60s Gibson SGs, they don't have perfectly shiny finishes. The buyers of them like to see wear. I would never polish my SG because it would defeat the point of the VOS treatment. I would hate my guitar to stay shiny forever. If I were him, I would sell it for what it's actually worth, around $900. And it would absolutely be his fault because he was misleading. There's a reason that's illegal for any company to do. And it's not Ebay's fault. Pangaea: It's not "custom made". It's an average, mass produced SG Standard with some ugly Iron Man 2 advertisement painted on it.

Business is business, if the guy can get a good penny for the guitar, all the power to him. Quite ironic being the guitar came from a band with such song titles as "Money Talks", "Money Made", "Ain't No Fun Waitin Around To Be a Millionaire", and "Back in Business". Plus, it has that absurd Iron Man 2 artwork on it; I wouldn't want to look at that either.

WTF is wrong with people these days? You're advocating his trying to rip someone off?

No, I'm advocating making a living. If someone is dumb enough to buy "swamp land in Florida", then I blame the moron who made the purchase, not the con who sold it to him / her in the first place.

Whoever this guy is, he's not making a living off this. And if someone wants to buy swampland in Florida, that's fine, but it's not okay to make it sound like paradise and trick the person into paying an absurd amount of money for it.

suicidehummer it's called "real life". I know you wouldn't do it, i wouldn't do it (probably burn the guitar and record it) but some people do it and some people are dump to "bite the bate" P.S. I'm using D'andrea guitar polish for the body of SG and Dunlop 65 lemon oil for the fret. The guy who gave me these is the official Gibson repairer and restorer for Greece. The guitar is not shining, it's still blurring but the stuff is good for the wood.

I know things like this happen, I'm just saying it's wrong. I use Dunlop Formula 65 for the fretboard too. I tested it on the back of my guitar and it actually doesn't shine the VOS finish but I still don't want to use it all the time.

The 65 is for the fret only no need to test on back. Anyhow, if you are happy on what you apply then that's fine be me. P.S. I would have made a philosophical discussion on what is and what is not wrong on many perspectives in life but: 1)The site will collapse 2)This can only be done seriously in Greek language. 3)I hate philosophical discussions.Allowed only if you are over 30 and haven't scored yet.

LOL. Anyway, I just wipe it down with a damp cloth (when I do that is... I like a dirty guitar).

"Pangaea: It's not "custom made". It's an average, mass produced SG Standard with some ugly Iron Man 2 advertisement painted on it. " Aye, that's what I meant really. It's unique in the sense there aren't many out there with that stuff on them. So although it looks ugly as hell, it's still something special to have. Did it sell btw?

Yeah well if I took a crap on my guitar, I bet there wouldn't be many others like it out there, but does that make it worth $5000?

Seriously if i had the money then i would have bought this abomination just to burn it so no one can puke when he sees what happened to a fine SG.
