Carlos Santana covering AC/DC
Carlos Santana's new album "Guitar Heaven" comes out next week. It is a covers album of "the greatest guitar classics of all time." It should be nicknamed as some the greatest music of all time...considering what comes out now. Anyway, I saw when the press release came out a few months back, that Carlos took a stab at Back in Black. I thought great, however I question his guest artist on the track, rapper Nas. I'm looking forward to hear what he does with the song and the others that he is covering for the album. Santana is my guitar god when it comes to melody so I expect some differences, but it will probably change how I hear these songs once again. The track list is as follows: 01. Little Wing (feat. Joe Cocker) 02. Sunshine of Your Love (feat. Rob Thomas) 03. While My Guitar Gently Weeps (feat. India.Arie & Yo-Yo Ma) 04. Can't You Hear Me Knocking (feat. Scott Weiland) 05. Back in Black (feat. Nas) 06. Dance the Night Away (feat. Pat Monahan) 07. Whole Lotta Love (feat. Chris Cornell) 08. Riders on the Storm (feat. Chester Bennington & Ray Manzarek) 09. Smoke on the Water (feat. Jacoby Shaddix) 10. Fortunate Son (feat. Scott Stapp) 11. I Ain't Superstitious (feat. Jonny Lang) 12. Photograph (feat. Chris Daughtry) 13. Bang a Gong (feat. Gavin Rossdale)
Wow. Carlos Santana just ruined Back in Black. Sorry to say
BOOOOOOOOOOO! WTF?When they get older they get arsholer.
I knew Nas or whatever his "name" is would ruin the song! Jeez, oh well.
Worst. Version. Ever. It's like a salsa mix...
I find it interesting that whenever a rapper remixes or covers Back In Black, they tend to slow it down when it's actually the fast and rhythmic delivery of the lyrics that make the BIB verses so catchy. Brian sings the verses of BIB, especially in the studio version, more like a rap than a rock song.
The is a Version of YSMANL that some beach clubs played that is actually better than this shait.
Hey, besides AC/DC I like other bands, too. And till now I really liked Santana. I once saw him live and he did a great performance. But this cover version really shocked me. Back in black fits to Santana in no way. The background singers, the bongos, the guitar and at last, the rapper. Nothing fits to each other. Also I miss the typical Santana guitar playing. What did this man do? This is really a no go.
I know, my school rock band was looking for songs to cover....unfortunally they decided on this crappy song :/ that and a metal verision of thunderstruck.
