Bon era footage (VIDEO)
I was watching Vh1 behind the music (AC/DC) and i noticed that there was some footage that i have never seen. looks like the Cleveland show but from another angle other than the two. any ways take a look.here is a vid i made. taken from VH1 behind the music. (there is no sound)
well it's NOT the Cleveland show malcolm is wearing a different shirt.
When I was watching the footage a few years ago I always thought it was either taken at the Cleveland 1979 show or Wembley 1979. It doesn't seem to be any of the mentioned shows when I compared the video with some pictures.
its not Wembley, thats definate, lookin at the teirs of seating for the crowd, its definately the U.S., I would go for Cleveland,at the beginning of the show, given that Angus is still dressed!!,looks like Malcolm is wearing some kinda short sleeved shirt over a tshirt, may be wrong tho'
It could be one of the two times they played the Day On The Green Festivals. It compares similar to the photos that are available of those two dates: ACDC David Lee Roth The Eagles Randy Rhoads Van Halen Eddie Van Halen 1978 ACDC 1978 My best guess is that it's either the Day on The Green festival either 1978 or 1979. I know there was a rumor a number of years ago about there possibly being footage from the 1978 Day On The Green. The only 'clue' I can see are those boxes that appear on the video and in the Van Halen picture I posted. Does anyone else know what other shows the video could be linked to?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9TFygUZCFI This seems to be from the same show
Some Aerosmith: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4oZFpKw9us&feature=related
WOW, on a bit of an unrelated note, I just saw the video of Aerosmith at that same show but the first camera angle is the exact same one with the Dog Eat Dog Footage of AC/DC and the second angle is the one jessestorozuk showed us. This video has Excellent quality with the time stamp, so maybe there is a better Gen Video out there of AC/DC somewhere? Aerosmith - Day On The Green 1979 Video Thanks Olavi for posting the Aerosmith vid that linked it. I'm going to say that the small snippet of video jessestorozuk posted is in fact Day On The Green 1979. Hopefully a complete source come out one day or a lower Gen copy of the Dog Eat Dog Footage we have.
If it exists, maybe Sony will dribble it out a song at a time in slightly above bootleg audio and video quality over 3-10 boxsets while proclaiming: "It's always been hard to find AC/DC on the TV. That's why we've been able to release 10 DVDs worth of AC/DC videos, promos and live shows originally broadcast on the TV, from way back in 1975 until the present day!"
The day on the green show in fact exits. I think i can get my hands on a VHS copy of that show. I know a guy on Kiss message board who has this, but I didn't trade with him because I can't convert it to DVD. Does anyone here have proper equipment to covert it? I think he might trade it against a DVD copy of the VHS.
well im gonna have to go with July 21, 1979 -- Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, CA, USA http://acdc-bootlegs.com/concerthistory/?gig=594 just from what Bon, Malcolm, and Cliff are wearing. and it looks like its the same arena as the pics that rhece6 put on. it would be awsome to see more of this show!!!!!!
Awesome! Always nice to find something new,we just need the show to surface now.
Olavi, that would be fantastic if you could get your hands on a VHS copy to be converted to DVD. Please try and contact that guy and let us know how it goes!!! BonScott46t80, is your equipment any good? If that's the case then we might be able to get the ball rolling on this one?
I've investigated this years ago too. I'm convinced it's Oakland '79. Compare the design of the seating in the footage to any pictures of Oakland Stadium and you'll see it's the same. We just need to get the footage to the fans.
My profile pic is from the day before the oakland gig. Bon signing autographs outside of a 7-11 store in San Jose. Good ole Budweiser in the morning for breakfast. You go Bon.
I contacted him and he's willing to trade, but he would like to have some other DVD's in change from other bands. Does anyone here have any Iron Maiden DVD's that we could trade for the VHS tape?
I don't but I might be able to look around and find a trader who might. Are there any other details you can tell us? How long is the tape? Maybe those are some questions you can ask the trader? Thanks Olavi for contacting him, at least he's willing to trade!!
I asked about the quality earlier. He said he'd grade it B-. The picture quality was fine. He hadn't watched it for a long time as he didn't have a VCR so he didn't remember any details. The tape also has Rock Goest To College and part of Detroit '83 on it.
Hello, this is my first post here... rhece6 contact me over TTD Olavi needs an Iron Maiden DVD to get this AC/DC VHS, I have some IM DVDs, if i can help, so let me know. here is a link to my list; http://www.uploadarea.de/files/brhkewislpfkpw3agsegaoj6c.pdf
Very cool, great to see the community come together like this. I can also convert vhs to dvd & do all the authoring stuff, so I'd be happy to help if needed. I don't have boots from too many other artists, but am willing to look around if it'll help.
Fantastic!!! Seems like the ball is really getting to roll on this one!! Thanks rusalguhl for coming over and being so generous to help out! Hopefully now, the person with the tape see's the list and see's something he likes!!
I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. Un-wrapping a new toy. I gotta see this show!!
Cool! Thanks rusalguhl. I sent him your trade list.
Hi, yesterday I had sent the show what the owner of this VHS tape to Nate, he can do the trade if all goes well he get the tape in return and transfer and author this show.
Once I get the VHS in the mail, I will post here & let everyone know. I'll try and work on as much before I receive it as I can to make the process smoother & faster. I'll post screen shots as soon as possible. Thank you to all of those involved. This has been a community effort and I am honored to take part in it.
great work guys, cant wait to get this one!!!!!!! bon stuff just gets me going!!!!!
Cool One!! Can't wait to get some details! Hopefully it isn't just the Dog Eat Dog footage we have, but if it is, hopefully then it's at least an upgrade.
received the tape via UPS 10 minutes ago. Will be watching it tonight and hopefully have some video to share this weekend. At the very least, i'll list what is on the tape
Fantastic news Big Nate!! Looking forward to the update.
At first glance, I saw nothing new. The tape contains Rock Goes to College, Cleveland 79 and Detroit 83 (it does have Day on the Green on the label). It's a 2 hour tape& is now converted. Will review it in full, but unfortunately it seems like it was a false alarm. Will let you know what I find.
What a shame. I did sent him a link to the concert history page of the show, but I guess he had some memory problems. Sorry to let you down on this one
damn! oh well i just hope we get to see it soon!
Bummer!! At least you tried Olavi and looking forward to seeing the vid.
