Official Largo concert release
Does anyone know if they'll ever officially release this concert?? I'm taking it that they recorded it professionally since they've used footage for the For Those About To Rock and Let's Get It Up music videos, plus they released three tracks on the Backtracks set.
Well... None of us know anymore than you do,but It's entirely possible that eventually it'll be released. BUT That probably wont happen for a VERY long time, considering they still have to release Let There Be Rock: The Movie and quite possibly Buenos Aires. Not to mention any other planned releases/album/tour ect. I hope they don't save Largo for when Brian passes, and include it in a Box Set like they did the Paris '79 with Bonfire (except named in Brian's honor obviously.) They should release this stuff now, while the guys are around and see it's success. Largo '81 would make an excellent Live Album...even if it wont have many of their later hits on it.
This band has so many Golden un-released Soundboard and Pro-Shot shows from their Prime it's insane. It should really be crime, having all that footage and not releasing it. Largo, Rio, Donington '81 Donington '84 Tokyo '81 Cleveland '79 Glasgow (In it's entirety) Plus more... Nashville '78 would be a great CD Townson '79 Hammersmtih '79 Melbourne '81 Dallas Texas '85 (complete show would be nice) Hopefully one day we'll get perfect quality remasters of these wonderful shows... lol
Yeah really, they're not releasing greatest hits albums to make more money on selling all of their albums, why not put these out? I wish they would do something right. PLUS, if they plan on retiring soon, that sucks but they still have plenty of stuff to put out and let us enjoy. Maybe even finally release Alright Tonight, Let It Loose, and I'm A Rebel too...
That's hoping for a bit too much I'm afraid, hell Largo is if you think about it,lol. Only time will tell.
Yeah... Hey, I can dream can't I?? I just hope they don't release them like some 50 years later when I possibly might not be around... (God forbid). If they just keep trickling out the Largo shows without dubbing them like on the backtracks, then we could make a decent great quality album of the show. I'm glad though for what's out there because my fav acca dacca song isn't the studio I Put The Finger On You but the largo one. Two words for it... Kick-Ass!!
Not only would Largo '81 be nice, but Rio '85 as well. Look, this isn't the popular thing to say, but I'm afraid that if they ever were released, it will be after the band retires and isn't recording and performing concerts anymore. Putting yourself in AC/DC's shoes, it's smarter from a business stand point to wait when you're no longer making money off of ticket sales to release such a product. At that point in there careers they'll be living solely off of merchandise sales and there savings. It sucks from a fans perspective, but makes total sense from the stand point of the band, and protecting there hard built, and hard earning money making product. That's just the cold reality of the business world.
Rio would be awesome too,Brian killed that night. Worth it for Have A Drink On Me alone.
Flick, there is nothing that pisses me off more than the fact that to this day, there's no really exceptional version of "Have a Drink on Me" live available anywhere. The two best versions I have are the one from Rock in Rio '85, but it still has a tremendous amount of hissing in the background despite being a DVD rip, and the version from Donington '84, but that is a direct soundboard recording and losses the feel of being live with the crowd mixed out of the audio. Damn Malcolm and his boozing past! Not all of us are ready to quite the bottle like him. That's my guess why it's never been released. ;-)
