Detroit November 14th 1981
Hello, I'm converting/archiving all my old tapes to mp3 at the moment. While I recorded the Detroit gig I found out, that my tape is a little bit different to all other version that are listed here and in other forums. At first I had to say that I have this tape since 1982/1983. I don't know the exact year but I have this one since I started collecting AC/DC tapes. From "Hells Bells" to "Highway To Hell" the setlist is the same as you can find here: http://acdc-bootlegs.com/concerthistory/?gig=874. My tape continues with "T.N.T." - "Whole Lotta Rosie" - "Let There Be Rock" - "For Those About To Rock" - "You Shook Me All Night Long" - "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap". In all other lists "T.N.T." and "Dirty Deeds" changed place and "You Shook Me" wasn't listed anywhere. There are - for my opinion - a few facts that prove that this is the correct stelist/tape: Brian says "Detroit" during "The Jack". All other announcements from Brian are identical. There seems to be no cut between "Inject The Venom" and "T.N.T." and between "T.N.T." and "Whole Lotta Rosie". "You Shook Me" ends and you can hear the first seconds of "Dirty Deeds". It continues after a short cut without the same good quality. Brain says "Good night, thank you" after "Dirty Deeds". All other versions have an incomplete song which is cut near the end. I will try to finish this one as soon as possible, and post it for download so everbody can check this one out. Maybe someone has the same version and can tell me if this is the correct tape. Maybe I'm wrong and this is not what it seems to be.
wow man, Any chance you'd do this in .wav format too?(if not too much trouble) If it's true, would be an excellent addition to any one's collection. Such a great show too, Inject The Venom is a killer song.
Excellent find in your archives Bernd. I am from Detroit and very anxious to hear your version. Can't wait. Thanks!!!
Hello, here is the link for the mp3 files: http://rapidshare.com/files/446899691/1981-11-14-D.rar *.wav files will follow. I can post *.flac format too, if wanted. Here's the information sheet: Date: November 14, 1981 Location: Cobo Hall, Detroit Bootleg Title: ------ Source: Audience Complete: COMPLETE File Type History: TAPE --> MAGIX CLEANING LAB --> WAV --> CDR --> FLAC --> MP3 Quality: (*)6- and 8/10 Length: 95 mins Number of Songs: 18 Number of Discs: 2 Format: mp3 Bitrate: 192kbps Disc 1: 01) Hells Bells (5:17); 02) Shot Down In Flames (3:21); 03) Sin City (5:16); 04) Put The Finger On You (3:39); 05) Back In Black (3:48); 06) Shoot To Thrill (5:09); 07) Bad Boy Boogie (13:18); 08) Rock'n'Roll Ain't Noise Pollution (4:22); 09) The Jack(5:40); Disc 2: 10) What Do You Do For Money Honey (3:46); 11) Highway To Hell (3:25); 12) Inject The Venom (3:39); 13) T.N.T. Audio cut after "For Those About To Rock". "Dirty Deeds..." continues for a few seconds after "You Shook Me..." than a short cut follows, and "Dirty Deeds..." continues with lower quality. Brian says "Here's one of the old classics this one...Shot Down In Flames...Yeah!!" before "Shot Down In Flames". Brian says "The new album's called For Those About To Rock, and this is a song off it called... I Put The Finger On You...ready?" before "Put The Finger On You". Brian meesed up the lyrics of "Sin City". He doesn't sing "Poor man last, rich man first". He sings "Rich man first...." mumbled something and continues with "Lamborghinis" and a laughter. Brian says "Nice on Detroit..." after "Rock'n'Roll Ain't...". Brian says "Alright Detroit good one" during "The Jack". Brian says "Inject the Venom, Aye! You never heard this one" before "Inject The Venom". Brian says "Alright, you wanna sing this one?" and doesn't sing the 2nd verse of "T.N.T.". Brian says "Good night.Thank you!" after "Dirty Deeds...".
Thank you very much man!! About to start downloading, .wav or Flac. is fine either way, this show is only avaiable in 160 Kbps mp3 at the moment (all the ones I've seen) Would be great to hear the upgrade, Will post again after I've tried it out.
Pretty cool man, can't wait for the lossless version.
Thanks much for this one Bernd! Looks like this is an official complete boot which replaces the other one out there thanks to you!
Thanks a lot!! Definitely enjoying it. Cheers!
Have a question? On this version 'Dirty Deeds' is the last track, but on the other gigs of this tour the setlist has TNT at the end. Did they mix up the setlist for this gig or is this maybe from a different show? You can clearly here Brian say "Good night", so it would seem either this was done before the encore, or indeed after. I also compared both versions and this one sounds exactly like the original bot flying around out there. Maybe someone knows, but for now I like this version better since 'Dirty Deeds' is complete and 'You Shook Me' is on this one as well. Thanks again Bernd!!
Hello, I think they mixed the setlist, because you can hear the first few seconds of "Dirty Deeds" after "You Shook Me..." in the same quality and after that the quality isn't that good any more. So I believe that this is correct order of the songs. Maybe there's someone out there who was at this concert and can tell the correct setlist. Here are now the FLAC-files: http://rapidshare.com/files/447393289/1981-11-14-D-Flac.part1.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/447404122/1981-11-14-D-Flac.part2.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/447411058/1981-11-14-D-Flac.part3.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/447488237/1981-11-14-D-Flac.part4.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/447492830/1981-11-14-D-Flac.part5.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/447513580/1981-11-14-D-Flac.part6.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/447513578/1981-11-14-D-Flac.part7.rar Have fun and enjoy this great gig!!!!
Has this version of Bernd's been confirmed as a legitimate recording from Detroit 11-14-81? I have the regular boot that is floating around, but just came across this thread and was curious if this indeed replaces the original boot or not. If someone knows, can you post a reply? Thanks Bernd for uploading this and I love the extra tracks which makes this more of a complete gig than the original. Scott
I also noticed on the setlist under the 'Concert Section', there are 17 tracks listed instead of the 18 which leaves out YSMANL, so again not sure if BN forgot to update the setlist based on Bernd's upload or if this is not a confirmed boot of this show. Hate to sound pushy guys, just love this boot from Detroit and would like to replace the original with this one if it is in fact a legit recording from this concert. Thanks
