Haymarket, Sydney, Australia - 30/1/77
So I see acdchighvoltageaudio uploaded the whole show here on youtube and this is great because I've wanted to hear the show in it's entirety for a long time, but on upon listening, the tracks I haven't obtained (which I now are from a lossless, FM source) all sound like they were recorded from an audience member. The quality shows a significant difference and my question is, was this show not recorded fully as a soundboard and only seven of the tracks were?? Sounds odd, though I know this has been known to happen, but not in between tracks, more like at the beginning or end. Like the 1988 Johnson City show.
Great post Hells, I too am listening to this as I type and noticed TNT and Baby Please Don't Go are missing from this video as acdchighvoltageaudio notes under the setlist. I checked some of the boots the Haymarket show was on like 'Sin Sydney', 'Can I Sit On Your Face Girl', and a few others but did not see these 2 tracks on at all. Were these 2 ever recorded? If someone has these, this would be a great spot to post them!!
I'd be willing to bet that they are lost to history, as magnetic tape back then was very expensive & radio stations often erased anything that was not top notch in order to save money. This is why we've only a few videos of the gazillion times they played on Countdown in '75. On the other hand, they were filming many shows at the time for the proposed documentary for "The Little Cunts Have Done It" tour. I suspect this is how Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap surfaced, since it was not part of the original broadcast, but I'm just speculating. In any case, if you listen to the audience recording, it's obvious that there were technical issues, culminating in a very different rendition of It's a Long Way to The Top. I don't think Angus or Malcolm would want anything else from this show sneaking out, being the perfectionists they are. But we can hope...we've been surprised before!
